'People better get fired': GOP lawmaker puts Trump admin on notice for latest 'buffoonery'

A Republican congressman who serves as a member of the House Armed Services Committee put the Trump administration on notice this weekend over what some outside observers have dubbed "one of the biggest foreign policy scandals in history."
Controversy erupted from the Department of State after a Ukrainian proposal was reported to have been provided by Russian officials. Some administration officials reportedly affirmed that assessment, while others at the State Department rejected the notion, and said Ukrainian officials also played a role in the formulation of the proposed peace plan that saw Ukraine making numerous substantial concessions.
A State Department spokesman, Tommy Pigott, issued the following statement: "This is blatantly false. As Secretary Rubio and the entire Administration has consistently maintained, this plan was authored by the United States, with input from both the Russians and Ukrainians."
Rep. Don Bacon, a prominent Republican who recently issued a grim warning about Trump's legacy, responded to that statement with a warning: "Some people better get fired on Monday for the gross buffoonery we just witnessed over the last four days."

As they should.
The Russian economy is collapsing. Putin is desperate.

(4,786 posts)a day or two ago that Russia has depleted more than half of the gold bar tonnage they held in their strategic reserve. They are doing this to keep their war economy afloat. All the west has to do is push a little harder with sanctions and weaponry. Russia will collapse and likely with it the Putin regime.

(160 posts)A committee man solemn and steady
Told the White House theyd better be ready.
For a plan causing shocks,
Born of Kyiv and Moscow talks,
Left the State Dept. a whole lot unsteady.
When a rumor from foreign hands came,
It ignited a four-day firestorm of blame.
Though some said it was Russian,
Others sparked a rebuttin,
As each side tried to distance its name.
Then a spokesman named Pigott declared,
That report is just wrongbe aware!
As Rubio has stated,
This plan was U.S.-created,
With both Russians and Ukrainians there.
But Rep. Don Bacon shot back,
Calling out the diplomatic crack.
With a stern Monday warning
Of firings in the morning,
For four days of a bungled attack.
