The US president congratulates the New York mayor-elect on his win earlier this month, as the pair say they look forward to working on affordability

(4,741 posts)I like cordiality!
But the 2026 Congressional election will have these two politicians in combative campaigning before long.

(128,444 posts)Trump is often friendly and cordial in one-to-one meetings with adversaries, only to stab them in the back later when he turns to his social media.

Rinse & Repeat.

(29,438 posts)That it would give all appearances of being a cordial and productive meeting, but that Trump couldn't be trusted to even admit what he might have said.
I hope Mamdani's team was watching!

LSD in the water, judging from his personality and my experiences with many folks who took acid back in the day, Donnie would have a terrible bummer.

(20,313 posts)He's been saying he's leaving New York because of Communism, Socialism, and just plain racism.
Now he has to do a compete turn around and extol the mayor's policies. He'll be wearing a neck brace tonight.

(9,651 posts)He said he was going to end himself on live television if Mamdani won.
Any word? No?
Are you saying that he made that crap up to get some air time? And, no one is calling him on it?
Someone needs to.

(11,557 posts)With Mango Mussolini going out of his way to praise Mamdani their hope is that it will make some of Mamdani's base question his motives.
Especially on the heels of retaining the police commissioner.
There is likely nothing more toxic than praise from a pedophile and rapist that is actively trying to destroy the country.

(11,557 posts)I am just never going to agree that shaking hands with a pedophile rapist that literally threatened to murder Democratic members of Congress just a day ago, is ever a good thing.
To honest I'm even more upset that fellow Democrats think I'm a bad person for thinking that way.

(8,884 posts)This was a massive win for New Yorkers facing massive budget cuts from Trump's terror regime.
And, just to be clear, we would have been much better off to negotiate with the Taliban and Saddam than to spend $6 TRILLION of the federal budget that could have gone to making people's lives better. How many thousands of lives would have been saved by avoiding unnecessary wars. But we'd rather piss that money away and wave our macho D's around than have bad optics.
People outside of the city worry about images and their small D energy. People inside the city have to deal with the fallout. Kudos for Mamdani for working smarter, instead of chest thumping like Hakeem Jeffries literally waving around his bat.

(9,208 posts)He wants people to think he's working on affordability. He saw the communist trope didn't do a thing with voters so now he sucks up. He's scared about the midterms.
I wonder if more of the House will resign giving us the House before then.
