In what appeared to be an indirect swipe at MAGA politicians within the Republican Party, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy.) stressed at her fathers funeral Thursday that while he himself was a member of the GOP, he would never prioritize the party over country.
The ex-lawmaker and eldest daughter of the late Dick Cheney delivered a powerful eulogy before a packed audience at Washington National Cathedral, which included, among other influential figures, two former presidents and all four living former vice presidents. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were reportedly not invited to the service.
In her eulogy, Liz Cheney spoke of how her father was inspired to pursue a career in politics after attending a speech by then-President John F. Kennedy at the University of Wyoming.
Though he was inspired to service by President Kennedy, Dick Cheney became a Republican, she said. But he knew that bonds of party must always yield to the single bond we share as Americans. For him, a choice between defense of the Constitution and defense of your political party was no choice at all. The White House did not immediately respond to HuffPosts request for comment.

(3,192 posts)Dick Cheney was as evil as Trump, as much an enemy of the Constitution and the rule of law, as much a threat to democracy, just as corrupt as Trump and just as much of a criminal he was simply more skilled at concealing it than Trump.
And Dick Cheney laid the groundwork for the Trump nightmare were experiencing now.

(3,852 posts)to retaliate against that op's husband is totally something trermp would do. So is starting a war you'll profit from. The arrogance with which Liz Cheney spoke against President Obama had hints of disdain comparable to what you would have seen from birthers. Not a fan.

(65 posts)POWER.
Power set him up to avoid consequences, accumulate indecent amounts of money, and score at least a couple of free hearts on the taxpayers' dime that he wouldn't have qualified for if he was Dick Nobody.
