Democrats Trump Called to Execute Hit Back, Urge 'Every American to Condemn' His 'Calls for Our Murder'

The congressional Democrats that President Donald Trump called seditious traitors hit back on Thursday and urged every American to unite and condemn the Presidents calls for our murder and political violence.
The joint statement put out by Sens. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), and Representatives Jason Crow (D-CO), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) followed a shocking series of posts from Trump on social media earlier in the day.
Trump took aim at the group over their public service announcement urging U.S. troops not to follow any illegal orders that may come out of the White House. The Democrats, all veterans, released the clip earlier in the week, and it immediately sparked a firestorm of rage on the right and received significant airtime at places like Fox News.
We are veterans and national security professionals who love this country and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath lasts a lifetime, and we intend to keep it.

(1,149 posts)and SCOTUS allows it to stand. Of course I can't imagine any "bipartisan legislation" that would keep the Democratic "moderates" happy, can you? Just another issue our politicians duck repeatedly.
Meanwhile, I suppose the President of Antifa could call out the armed members. Well, if Antifa actually existed and had a President and such.

(173,180 posts)In theory, the Democratic video shouldnt have been especially controversial. In practice, Team Trumps pushback has been over the top.
Dem veterans reminded servicemembers to refuse illegal orders.

Trump responded by accusing them of âsedition,â labeling them âtraitorsâ and suggesting that theyâre subject to arrest â all before raising the possibility *of capital punishment*. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

The stark message, posted on Tuesday, was organized by Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, a former C.I.A. analyst who served multiple tours in Iraq. Our laws are clear, said Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, a Navy veteran and former astronaut. You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders, added Representative Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, who also served in the Navy.
...In theory, the video shouldnt have been especially controversial. After all, the Democratic veterans are correct: Service members arent supposed to follow illegal orders.
In practice, the partisan pushback has been ferocious.....
On Thursday morning, the president published an item to his social media platform responding to the message from the Democratic veterans, saying, This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???
This dovetailed with a similar message, also posted on Thursday morning, which read, Its called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand We wont have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.
Soon after, the Republican added, SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!
Trump similarly amplified an online message written by someone else, who wrote, HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!.....
In the recent past, many leading GOP voices warned that rhetoric like this was corrosive to society and heightened the risk of political violence. Evidently, the incumbent president, outraged by calls in support of the rule of law, doesnt care.

(7,844 posts)Is not sedition. All military personnel have an obligation to refuse to obey unlawful or illegal orders. The problem is in knowing when an order is unlawful or illegal. If you refuse an order and it later turns out to be legal, you're screwed. And the burden is on you to prove it's illegal. It's a high bar and a hard situation and I feel for anyone serving today who may be in that situation.
I wonder what the six know that the rest of us don't?

At least my relative only has it on mute so the rest of us don't have to listen to it, but she takes it all as the Gospel truth. And she has an advanced degree so should know better, but 30+ years of it has rotted her critical thinking abilities. Well, she's 100 so I know it won't last too much longer but damn, they suck.

And how predictable. He's made the swamp so deep and anaerobic that, now that they have voluntarily surrendered their autonomy, they have no real remaining agency and little else to do.

Nothing we say or do will change anything.
The news media will not care. Especially 48 hours from now.
The courts will not care.
The DOJ will not care.
Congressional Republicans will not care.
Yes, it's horrible but no one that can actually do anything about it actually give a fuck.
They have all given him carte blanche to do whatever he wants.
They will never impeach him.
They will never arrest him.
SCOTUS has very literally, given him limitless power that cannot be questioned.
Not sure what regular people are supposed to do about any of this anymore.

(31,268 posts)Things are looking up. Trump is circling the drain medically, mentally and politically. There are big cracks opening up around him, as we have read about this past week. And in fact, this latest piece of crazy behavior is surely going to be another nail in his coffin. Having the president call for the execution of members of Congress is a big and shocking step too far.

Tired of the news media always bending the knee to this administration and giving him a pass on every damn thing.
If all these people don't care, I didn't either.
And they come for them and they will, I didn't give a fuck about them either.

Also Target boycott is hurting them and Media's Touch is growing in popularity. Also a poll just taken shows those asked are 14 percent more likely to vote for an unnamed Democrat than an unnamed Republican in the midterms. I agree we are no where close to winning the fight yet, but at least more are joining in it. As long as the economy remains bad, and prices remain high those numbers will continue to grow. Whether you like Carville or not, he was not wrong when he said, "It's the economy."

(457 posts)So what is everyone doing about this cancerous menace called Trump, and the feckless freaks that enable him to get away with what he is doing? Why are we not in every congressional district throughout the country making noise? I've been calling friends in my contacts database just to make sure that they are aware the shit has hit the fan. No one can any longer just stand by. It's not good enough to just say that Trump has failed to make anyone's life better, or more affordable, or safer from his made up demons. We need to stop only focusing on Trump. Every Republican should be made to answer for this every day.
