Larry Summers resigns from OpenAI board after release of emails with Epstein

Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers said Wednesday that he will resign from the board at OpenAI after the release of emails between him and the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Summers had announced Monday that he would be stepping back from all public commitments, but it was not immediately clear whether that included his position at the artificial intelligence startup.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served, excited about the potential of the company, and look forward to following their progress,” Summers said in a statement to CNBC.

OpenAI’s board told CNBC it respects Summers’ decision to resign. “We appreciate his many contributions and the perspective he brought to the Board,” the OpenAI Board of Directors said in a statement.

I remember when some here were up in arms about his being part of the Obama administration.

He's a "free" trader. He made the gathering of wealth by the elite, already filthy-rich, much easier for them and much, much more difficult for the rest of us. Obama was wrong to have appointed him.

Nothing like a clean conscience Larry..you should try it .
I hope he is miserable. He was always an asshole.
I try to remind myself when dealing with the various vicissitudes of life that a clean conscience is one thing most of us rabble have going for us. Even adjacency to our elites seems mildly corrupting.

if any dude was clearly a member of the wrong political party, it's Larry Summers. I've been saying this for years. There are many reasons he was denied a role in the Biden administration.

That's a dumb statement for anyone to make, let alone a president of a university. I think that was one reason that Harvard booted him.

I want to see Epstein destroying these elite fuckers. He was close to several Ivy League professors.

Summers is a key architect of the banking deregulation in the late 90’s. He is a women-hating misogynist and an economic policy fool. I was so pissed when Obama appointed him Treasury Sec. and was a key advisor during his campaign. Fool us once, shame on us.

When the Winklevoss Brothers issued a complaint at Harvard that Zuckerberg stole their idea, it was Summers that shut it down. (Rewatch The Social Network movie for the scene.)

Jon Stewart put that idiot creep in his place during his Apple TV show and Summers couldn’t argue his way out of a paper bag to defend his policy advocacy. Seeing the poorly written communications only confirm what the man lacks in intelligence is made up in arrogance.

It’s time we quit insulating old man incompetence just because they are in “the club”. Now that we also know what the extracurricular activities of certain club members entailed.

15. Well, goody for him. If he was just a creep who found Epstein's company and dating advice enjoyable, OK, he owns that.

But, IF he was involved in anything nefarious with these young victims, then he should be prosecuted. You don't get to just "lay low" till this blows over.
