House Republican leaders aiming to hold Tuesday vote on forcing release of Epstein files, sources say

House Republican leaders are aiming to hold a vote Tuesday on legislation to force the full release of the Justice Department's files on Jeffrey Epstein, sources familiar with the vote tell CBS.

All Democrats and four Republican House members last week successfully brought a petition to the floor to force a vote to release the full Justice Department files on Epstein, circumventing GOP leaders. House Speaker Mike Johnson said the vote will happen this upcoming week.

The bill, titled the Epstein Files Transparency Act, was first introduced in July by Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California and Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky as pressure intensified on the Trump administration to release more Epstein-related files.

The bipartisan legislation calls for the release of documents relating to all investigations into Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of sex trafficking in 2021. The bill would compel the release of flight logs, travel records, names of individuals and entities referenced in any Epstein case and internal Justice Department communications within 30 days of the legislation's passage. It would also make public any records "concerning the destruction, deletion, alteration, misplacement, or concealment of documents, recordings, or electronic data" related to Epstein and his associates, as well as documentation about his death.

to redact all Republican names in them, leaving the Democrats' names visible - as one operative said they'd do.

This has probably been completed by now, with Trump crowing that he'll release them. Then he will proclaim his innocence and victimhood and blame it on Democrats, as he always does.

His cult will swallow it whole and ask for more.

The band aid has to come off. Sooner or later.

Another news story about it doesn’t help but it must be bad or he wouldn’t be pushing them to do this.

"the Epstien files" from Trump's and the GOP. We will get a watered-down, rewritten redacted pile of shit.

This makes Nixon's 19 minute tape erasure look like spelling error.

Ken Starr omitted a blowjob in the definitions of sexual relations so Clinton testified that he did not have sexual relations with Ms Lewinsky. I fear that the definition is not tight enough and the smoking gun material, whether electronic or hard copy, will not be released. Get this right.

is pretty obvious - stall, get the FBI to scrub his name from the files, release them in in bits and pieces - the ones that do not have his name in them, Declare himself innocent, agree to release "the files", launch an investigation to look for Democrats. Also preempt by spreading rumors about Bill Clinton..
Face it - Trump always uses the same playbook when he gets cornered.

Remember it was Bondi who tanked the first investigation of Epstein..
