Walt Disney Executives To Meet With Jimmy Kimmel, Assess Talk Show Future, Bloomberg News Reports

Source: Huff Post/Reuters

Sep 18, 2025, 08:11 PM EDT | Updated 8 hours ago

Sept 18 (Reuters) - Walt Disney DIS.0 representatives and talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel raced to find the right words on Wednesday to calm a social media furor that erupted following criticism of his remarks about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Kimmel’s comments in his monologue on Monday had angered many, and the reaction reached a fever pitch on Wednesday, including death threats that raised concerns for the safety of Kimmel and his staff, the source said. The late-night host prepared to make a statement, but Kimmel and Disney representatives could not find language that they agreed would not further inflame the situation, the source said.

As the show’s 4:30 p.m. taping time approached, Disney CEO Bob Iger and Disney Entertainment co-Chairman Dana Walden agreed that the best approach would be to take the show off the air and later find a way to bring Kimmel back, the source said. Walden informed Kimmel of the decision.

A representative for Kimmel did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment. Executives will meet with Kimmel to discuss the future of his program, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing three people with knowledge of the matter.

The world’s baby sitter, and mind groomer.
As an educator in Wildlife science and management, we had to alert the future wildlife biologists about the Disnification of animals. That is why people get killed thinking wild animals talk and are so sweet and need a hug. Then get “Et” in THEY house.
The biologist have to do more people management than animals. Because of the Disney portrayal.
But do underestimate, they are raking in fortune's at the theme parks parks.

Animals have been "personified" by humans LONG before anything "Disney". Literally for millennia. This is why doing such was acceptable because you see it in many books of parables, children's stories, and even religious texts, with animals (and even insects) depicted in art, writing, and song, well before he showed up.

Thanks to "technology", Disney just took the idea, monetized it, and spread it further than how such characters were passed down generationlly, through oral and/or written tradition in many ethnic communities, by taking advantage of the era of film and television, and eventually theme parks, and the internet.

when it was on NBC with the peacock! I remember they used to run it on Sunday evenings. We got one of those color console TVs (RCA) in 1967. Batman was great in the most vivid colors that they could find for the costumes.

Before that, we had a 19" B&W (I think a GE).

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/the-view-abc-tone-down-politics-trump-report_n_682e7eaae4b0a052877e91b3
ABC executives have previously pressured hosts over their Trump talk, with late night host Jimmy Kimmel revealing in 2022 that the network’s top bosses asked him to tone it down when he began to regularly quip about Trump.

Kimmel told the “Naked Lunch” podcast that he informed execs that he wouldn’t let up on the jokes even if they fired him. They eventually backed away from the ask, he noted.

Back in May, ABC Execs told the View to dial down the political talk. Their reaction?

The women of “The View,” sources explained, weren’t having it with the “silly” requests and look to just “keep doing their thing” on the program. “This is what our audience wants. Isn’t it gonna look kind of bad if we’re all of a sudden not talking about politics?” one source familiar with the meeting reportedly said of the hosts’ response to their boss.

tell them to go f*ck themselves. Yes I know he has a whole large staff that have their jobs on the line as well but I would encourage Jimmy to find a way to take the show elsewhere. F*ck ABC/Disney/Nexstar etc. because apparently they have forgotten how abysmal their late night offerings were before Jimmy Kimmel. They spent decades nearly being outperformed by infomercials in late night. Once Ted Koppel left Nightline even that went to crap for them.

In the end the thing about Disney is to always remember there is a very good reason their longstanding nickname has been "The Rat".

always paint it to give Crumb The 1st the ability to say Jimmy had been whacked and now would be "on a short leash" and if he "steps out of line" then Crumb The 1st will yank him again. That's why it would be best for Jimmy and his people on the show to find another platform for the show.

Any assessment that Trump makes of Jimmy Kimmel is meaningless and is driven by his desire for revenge.

Kimmel has been a vocal advocate for healthcare often when GOP or Trump tried to dismantle ACA.

To me, that makes Trump and GOP the immoral ones.

Is done CANCEL CULTURING all of TV will be 24/7 cabinet meeting sessions with every show, every “News” channel being just like his ass licking meetings.
I am old enough to remember Bill got a blow Job under the table and got impeached. In Private.
Trump is getting a dozen or more BJ’s, all televised, at every Cab meeting, and he is doing God’s work. Talk about hypocrisy.

He makes them do it, cause they inhale the shroom spores embedded in his balding pub combover, and they hallucinate to believe his lies. And see trump riding God like Putin on a horse. .
