DENVER (AP) Authorities said Tuesday they removed two dozen decomposing bodies and multiple containers of bones and likely human tissue after discovering remains last week behind a hidden door of a Colorado funeral home owned by the local county coroner.
The homes of Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter and his brother, Davis Mortuary co-owner Chris Cotter, were also searched as part of the criminal investigation into the funeral home in Pueblo, about 110 miles (175 kilometers) south of Denver, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said.
Neither brother has been arrested or charged as an investigation that is expected to be lengthy continues. The Cotters have not been questioned because they retained lawyers, CBI said.
Brian Cotters lawyer, David Beller, did not immediately provide a comment.

Obviously hoping Cotter(s) receives all that they deserves - but only if the evidence proves my initial reaction.

(1,278 posts)Though I'm having a hard time figuring out just what that might entail?
One thing I'm pondering though, since this dude is the coroner, he may end up with a lot of bodies that nobody comes to claim or seems to care about. There's probably some kind of program that pays mortuaries to dispose of these bodies, but these clowns didn't want to invest the gov. cheese on purchasing natural gas with which to cremate the bodies? But after that, then, what would be the plan? What's a cheaper way to dispose of them?
I'm also curious because in a sense, the moment you die, you begin 'decomposing', so every corpse at a mortuary is 'decomposing'. But just what kind of shape were these ones in, I wonder?
Also, you see those tanks both of the men are handling? That's probably your answer

(29,665 posts)There was another funeral home incident, not far from this one, discovered in 2023. Of course, both areas of the state are deep red, but still.
