"Israel says it is preparing to move Palestinians from combat zones to southern Gaza as plans move ahead for a military offensive in some of the territorys most populated areas"

"NAHARIYA, Israel Israel announced Saturday that it is preparing to move Palestinians from combat zones to southern Gaza as plans move ahead for a military offensive in some of the territorys most populated areas.
The Israeli military body in charge of humanitarian aid to Gaza, COGAT, said the supply of tents to the territory would resume on Sunday. The military said it had no comment on when the mass movement of Palestinians would begin, but Defense Minister Israel Katz said on social media that we are now in the stage of discussions to finalize the plan to defeat Hamas in Gaza.
"...11. more deaths related to malnutrition
Another 11 malnutrition-related deaths occurred in Gaza over the past 24 hours, the territorys Health Ministry said Saturday, with one child among them. That brings malnutrition-related deaths during the war to 251.
The United Nations is warning that levels of starvation and malnutrition in Gaza are at their highest since the war began. Palestinians are drinking contaminated water as diseases spread, while some Israeli leaders continue to talk openly about the mass relocation of people from Gaza..."

(3,677 posts)First, there is no way that tents can be set up for well over a million people in short order. And COGAT (aka lying sociopaths central) will ensure that not nearly enough tents will be let in (as they've done with food and medical aid since the beginning). They will suffer outside in the elements yet again.
Israel declared that the UN and other agencies will set up the tents. I assume without asking first. How very entitled and arrogant. The UN will not be a part of any ethnic cleansing operation in any case.
By international law, civilians cannot be moved from their homes unless there is already a fully-functional humanitarian area, with water, food and tents that they can move to. But that has never stopped Israel, has it? People were moved last year from Rafah to Mawasi, basically just a strip of land with no facilities. It was supposed to be a "safe zone" but kept getting bombed nevertheless. Now Mawasi is one of the two areas - the other being Gaza City - that are going to be invaded. And so where do the hundreds of thousands of people from Mawasi go, along with the million or so from Gaza City? Why, ta da - they will go to the new "humanitarian cities" (aka transfer hubs) run by GHF and the IDF, in the Rafah area, right next to the Egypt border - of course!
This whole Gaza City/Mawasi operation is nothing more than the first step in the ethnic cleansing plan. Disguised as "getting Hamas". How many times does Israel have to "get Hamas" and how much longer does it think ANYONE will believe them? Even its own citizens see the lies now. Too bad though that most Israelis are not concerned with the suffering and fate of Palestinians - only with the hostages - and support the ethnic cleansing plan. With a few brave and honourable exceptions, all respect to them and may their numbers increase daily.

in Gaza and the West Bank.
In addition to displacing residents, destroying building they are building roads to wall off sections of land ... and the world, including many of our elected leaders, are mostly silent.

The plan was always transparent for the non-willfully blind and non-complicit.
Speaking of complicity, it's hard not to conclude by now that our leaders in the West are all complicit too. I think there's a lot going on that we have no clue about. It disturbs the hell out of me.

(8,811 posts)Its a very cruel, slow death, according to one pediatrician in Gaza. I'm going to guess he probably knows.
The human heart shrinks to less than half its size from starvation. Starvation usually causes the belly to bloat, as well as nausea and vomiting. Death by infection is highly likely, but eventually the body will just shut down as more and more resources are devoted to keeping the heart and lungs working.
The trauma of watching someone starve to death goes without mentioning, or watching many, many people.

(11,076 posts)I was homeless for a little over a year and would often go a couple days without eating. There were some time though where, over the course of a week, I didn't eat at all and had very little to drink.
I never asked for help or went to a soup kitchen or went out of my way to ask friends. I just didn't eat. I can tell you that 6 days without eating creates some horrible memories and dreams that took me years to come to terms with and overcome.
I'm very comfortable now and I managed to come out of that experience with no addictions or hangups and very limited long term mental and emotional trauma.
I say this as plainly as I can: I cannot even imagine the horrors being experienced by those poor people and dying from hunger and thirst is truly a fate worse than death itself.

Saturdays announcement came as Israel prepares for a military operation to conquer the Gaza Strips largest city, which was approved by the cabinet last week, despite hesitation from the military.
... The Israeli government has instructed the IDF to ready to capture Gaza City, where an estimated one million civilians are sheltering. The civilians will be instructed to head to southern Gaza for their safety, according to officials."

(104,526 posts)Hundreds of thousands of people have gathered in Israel to call for an end to the Gaza war and a deal to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas.

The largest crowd was seen in Tel Aviv's "Hostages Square" on Sunday, with the organisers saying the government's plans to seize control of Gaza City risked the lives of around 20 hostages still being held by Hamas.
A one-day national strike - part of wider protests - closed roads, offices and universities in some areas. Nearly 40 people were arrested during the day.

The hostages are a secondary goal. Netanyahu has made that very, very clear.
Every time he sabotaged a ceasefire negotiation - well-documented by now - he made that clear.
By bombing and bulldozing Gaza, starving Gaza (including the hostages) etc - he made that clear.
Withdrawal from Gaza was the one demand Hamas never gave up on. They were willing to return the hostages if Israel withdrew. They could have been home a year and a half ago.
So is it not clear Netanyahu values taking Gaza and eliminating the Palestinians over the lives of his own people? It is to me and finally to hundreds of thousands or millions of Israelis.

New Construction
Israeli forces are not just clearing land. They are building on it.
One new road already stretches more than three miles from the Israeli border across Rafah into agricultural areas. It is protected by berms, trenches and several military outposts.
And other construction is moving at a rapid clip, the satellite images show.
Several new military outposts, often graded, paved and surrounded by defensive walls, have been built across southern Gaza in the past month. Soldiers have also commandeered buildings to use as bases, such as an under-construction hospital..."

(3,677 posts)More accurately, the transfer camp. Like during WWII. A camp from which prisoners will be moved to other, more permanent "locations". In this case, South Sudan or another of the worst hell-holes on earth. Palestinians should be grateful, it could be worse, right?
