Some National Guard troops in Washington set to carry firearms

Some National Guard troops deployed to Washington, D.C., will begin carrying firearms to conduct their mission in the city, two U.S. officials told NBC News. Not all troops will carry weapons, one official said.

The arming of the troops marks a change since Guard members were first deployed to the district earlier this week. They were tasked with addressing crime and homelessness in the capital.

A spokesperson for the Joint Task Force said in a statement that Guard members “may be armed consistent with their mission and training.”

“Their presence is focused on supporting civil authorities and ensuring the safety of the community they serve. The DC National Guard remains committed to assisting the District of Columbia and serving its residents and visitors whenever called upon,” the spokesperson, Air National Guard Maj. Melissa Heintz, said.

Unfortunately the military commanders are going along with this, no reason for this to happen.
My hope is larger peaceful protest everywhere. As much as possible during this early Stage of dictatorship.

But these are soldiers who have invaded a US city (well, almost a city)... they're carrying guns to SHOOT people. After seeing ICE kidnap people, take them to the ground with the same knee to the neck that has killed before while twisting their body sideways, do you really think there won't be shooting.

Hell, if any of them came anywhere near MY house, I'd have my gun ready to shoot back... if not first. I don't know these people, and they would definitely be threatening me and mine. Take me to fucking court, all you stand your ground people... otherwise, turn in your guns because you're useless!

This is really taking it too far. Yes, he wants a damned civil war... and I'm ready to give him one right back. Someone needs to knock that geriatric idot flat on his face, put a knee or two to his neck, and twist HIS body in half at the hips. I'm tired of seeing them doing this or that and getting the frack away with it. My tipping point happened quite a long while ago. Are we really a country of the helpless who can do nothing more than bitch and moan and cry at what has been done to us and ours? Are magas REALLY okay with this when it's happening to them, too?? Man... something is definitely wrong. And if one person is shot and the shooter gets away with it, hang it up. Cause ain't nobody gonna save us if we can't save ourselves. I'm ready to declare war, on all enemies foreign and domestic. I don't think it had a time limit once I mustered out... and we have been declared war on in no uncertain terms. And I don't care why he's doing it. trumps putin puffing was an embarrassment and shame that the whole world is poo-pooing and laughing at him about? Epstein's files aren't going away and he's still hearing the words and innuendos all the time? Distraction, distraction, distraction... until he declares martial law because we covertly have given him all the permission to do it.

I give up... I"m closing it down and going to bed, after making taking the dog for a walk to calm down. I'm 69 years old and I NEVER thought I'd see my country buckle to communism, autocracy, and cowardice... not to mention pure unadulterated idiocy like this. I'm only so very, very thankful that my WWII father isn't alive to see what has become of the country he fought for. Sorry for bmbasting, folks... sometimes it just gets to be too much. And this is one of those times...

Your words mean a lot to me. I was off the site all day yesterday. I think I finally clicked in during the late night hours. The night I wrote that message, I did bring out the leash and took the dog for a walk, even as hot as it still was around here. The exercise helped a bit, but walking with hubby and the dog meant hubby and I talked about it all during the walk... so it wasn't exactly a meditative stroll (gryn). I was grateful for the company, being as it was midnight when dog and we headed out the door!
