Blue state Republicans sound alarm on redistricting tit-for-tat

Blue state Republicans whose political futures would be at risk in retaliatory redistricting efforts by Democrats are sounding the alarm on Texass mid-decade effort to pad the GOP majority.
President Trumps push to have Texas redraw its House maps with a goal of picking up five more seats ahead of next year has prompted red and blue states alike to consider redrawing their maps in response. Mid-decade redistricting being considered in California alone could cancel out Republicans wins in the Lone Star State.
The redistricting tit-for-tat is frustrating blue state Republicans.
I think the whole thing is pretty disgusting, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.), whose reelection could be at risk if California Democrats pursue new maps, told The Hill of the redistricting battles across the country. Constituents dont want politicians manufacturing a temporary gain by any side manipulating lines.

YOUR party has become the most egregious and blatant about doing it. Democrats were pursuing and were able to begin implementing "fair maps" while YOUR party ignored that, and continued to gerrymander and gerrymander to "own the libs", all in order to satisfy their slovenly lust for power.

(315 posts)I am absolutely in favor or blue states redistricting to defeat the right wing zealots. I was in favor of Supreme Court expansion, and eliminating life terms.

The MAGAt Congressional congregation from Minnesota have been warned that if they are not going to be truthful to their constituency here, hold Town Halls for ALL, or stand up to TACO Don, they will see themselves as on the list of possibly losing their seats. But as the Legislature is so divided, that will not happen. So we here in Minnesota need candidates who will put these Congress members on notice.
The 1st CD has a candidate named Jake Johnson who is making ground there and getting to know people. The 1st CD is primarily rural. Rochester and Mankato are the bigger cities there. The Austin-Albert Lea area has populations, but no where as Rochester and Olmsted County.
