Republican Town Hall ERUPTS After Audience Asks, 'Why Are You Covering Up the Epstein Files?'

A town hall with Rep. Mike Flood (R-NE) erupted on Monday after the congressman was asked why his party was covering up files related to the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Why are you covering up the Epstein files? asked a member of the audience as the room erupted into applause and shouting.
Flood responded, Lets be very clear. At the next pro forma session of Congress, youll find my name as a sponsor on a resolution from the House Rules Committee to release the Epstein files, to protect the victims and not re-victimize them again. I support Jamie Comer, who is the House Oversight Committee chairman, subpoenaing Ms. Maxwell later this month to come testify in Washington. I am for the release of those records.
Floods remarks did little to quell members of the audience, who continued to shout down the congressman.

(2,154 posts)At least he bothered to meet with his constituents.
Elise Stefanik hasn't been to Plattsburgh since 2017 for a Town Hall.
She held it in a PBS station so small, you had to win a lottery to be able to ask her a question
Her "goodbye tour" in April does not count.
AOC and Paul Tonko did come several weeks ago.
It was held in a theatre that held 1000 people.
They addressed the thousand more that stood in the rain to hear them.
That is democracy in action.
Republicans do not feel they have to explain their votes to anyone.
Or be held accountable.
Republicans are moral cowards.

And when she was first inexplicably elected, she refused to publicize her schedule since protesters followed her everywhere. BTW, I'm just north of Glens Falls.

(241,994 posts)But then he retired in 2015 and I went to the meetup to meet his chosen successor. I liked him a lot, made GOTV calls for him. But inexplicably Stefanik won instead and even though there have been lots of protests, she's continued to win ever since. After January 6th and the second impeachment, billboards went up throughout the district calling for her to resign, I used to pass this one on my way home. I really don't get it and I can sure sympathize.

They're only worried about angering Trump. GOP town halls are a sham, a leftover from the days when the party responded to the voters' wishes.
and the reason for the extreme-gerrymandering is they know just how unpopular their policies truly are

OMG! This just happened at Rep. Mike Flood's town hall:
Q: What plans does the Congress have for providing reasonable-cost health insurance to Nebraskans?
REP. FLOOD: One of the ways to bring down our commercial private payer insurance is to not have as many people on Medicaid.

(24,238 posts)The ACA is a life saver for them. It is exactly the opposite of what this Congressman said. I am just stunned that he is so clueless.. Private insurance makes a huge profit with Medicaid servicing the needs of people. Why did he think the ACA was created in the first place. Private Insurance would not cover people.

(3,369 posts)it takes a sex scandal to get people's attention. Yes, it's more than your typical sex scandal, but still.
Thus is the mindset of a large portion of America that is constantly fed propaganda, conspiracy theories and outright lies by a completely corrupted media and the internet where any asshole can be a "star".

Sounds like something BONDI, aka blondy, would have ordered done.
