Questions raised over cost to rehab Trump's Qatar jet and 'mysterious' $934M fund transfer

Source: Raw Story

The cost to rehab the controversial luxury jet generously gifted to Donald Trump by the government of Qatar remains a mystery with the figures not being made available at the same time that there are questions about a "mysterious" Pentagon fund transfer.

According to a report from the New York Times' David E. Sanger and Eric Schmitt, the Pentagon has gone to great pains to hide the expense to make changes to the "free" jet that is supposed to replace the aging Air Force One.

The report notes, "Officially, and conveniently, the price tag has been classified. But even by Washington standards, where “black budgets” are often used as an excuse to avoid revealing the cost of outdated spy satellites and lavish end-of-year parties," adding that the reasoning behind hiding the cost is "inventive." That led to speculation about a recent unexplained transfer of almost a billion dollars within the Pentagon.

Writing, "no one wants to discuss a mysterious, $934 million transfer of funds from one of the Pentagon’s most over-budget, out-of-control projects — the modernization of America’s aging, ground-based nuclear missiles," Sanger and Schmitt added, "congressional budget sleuths have come to think that amount, slipped into an obscure Pentagon document sent to Capitol Hill as a 'transfer' to an unnamed classified project, almost certainly includes the renovation" of the jet that has been descibed as a "palace in the sky."

Working 24/7/365 at up to triple time will be astronomical.

Building all the one of a kind wiring harness to mil-spec will take years. Think Boeing will give up their proprietary VC-25 assembly data?

We legally cannot give up a fully armed aircraft with the latest Comsec to anyone, especially chump. He would have buyers already set up.

THE Flying Gold House. Comes complete with Melania.

... didn't Chump announce that this "gift" from Qatar would become his personal plane after he leaves office?

I'm pretty sure I remember that being announced, to somehow drown out the Democrats' screaming "Emoluments" among other things. No this is HIS personal property, and therefore HE needs to pay for whatever repairs and updates are called for. This plane should never be designated "Air Force One" because it isn't. It's Chump's personal property, just like his mansions, resorts and golf courses.

aren’t going to be ready until 2028 or 29, there is no way that this bashed together conversion of the Qatari jet is going to be ready any quicker. If they try to rush it they will just create problems that have to be solved later. Plus, the equipment is highly specialised and requires long lead times; it can’t be bought off-the-shelf. Finally, who is going to work on this conversion? The number of workers with the right skills AND the necessary clearances to work on a presidential jet is very limited. I doubt they could get people without pulling them off the VC-25B aircraft.

then put a lien on it for a billion $. If Dump can't or won't pay it off, keep it for future presidents to use. To hell with the idea of giving it to his library if our tax dollars pay for it.

We are supposed to pay for it, like his golfing weekend in Scotland to visit his own properties.
