'Sealed their fate': New memo shows Dems giddy over looming elections

Democrats are already plotting to go on the offense over House Republicans' vote to pass President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill."
According to Punchbowl News' Max Cohen, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has already circulated a memo stating that the GOP's vote will cost them their majority next year, and that No matter what happens in the Senate with respect to budget reconciliation, House Republicans have already sealed their political fate.
This aligns with exclusive Raw Story reporting that Democrats are already strategizing on how to make Republicans pay for their vote. The GOP's counterparts at the National Republican Congressional Committee, meanwhile, are doing their best to flip the script, attacking Democrats who opposed the legislation as voting for tax hikes, handouts to illegal immigrants, and open border chaos.
The Republican bill, which came together haphazardly after weeks of impasse and faction-fighting, cuts hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid, food assistance, and green energy programs, along with a number of other items like ending the IRS' free tax filing service, prohibiting states from enforcing artificial intelligence regulations for a decade, and sharply limiting the ability of federal courts to civilly sanction Trump administration officials for contempt.

(7,280 posts)or end of elections as we currently understand them
If Trump removes contempt of court, it is a dictatorship
What stops him?
Martial law ... no election ...
or an election like they have in Russia
.. where only Republican appointees can count the ballots.
That has to be the end game with this bill
Unless something stops them, the democracy is over.

(113,815 posts)The die has been cast. The propaganda is still in effect. Not much has changed, in my opinion, at this time. It should have but I don't I don't think it has.

(18,462 posts)They are focused on the election as if it is some deux ex machina that is going to undo all the hopeless damage the MAGAs are doing right now; meanwhile, our efforts to effectively neutralize all the actions they are taking now is a very mixed bag and not very successful. I understand the fear of dealing with reality right now and hinging their hopes on some future election, because it's scary. But I don't think the electorate is that excited about these elections. We are more worried about what is being destroyed and taken from us right now in front of our eyes.

(12,936 posts)So no, I don't in any way shape or form feel like we should be celebrating. All of the misinformation, Russian interference, big money, lies, voter suppression, and media bias that handed the election to tRump are still in place and they're not going anywhere.

(378 posts)This is exactly the attitude that cost the US this nonsense we're living thru now. I'm WORKING to make it happen, but I don't really see a lot of effort on the part of the DNC etc.

(98 posts)It's all well and good that they have a bunch of stuff to throw in the Republicans face, but the "Orange Man Bad" isn't the way to victory. Sure point out the flaws, but listen to the people. Show us you understand and give us the road back to sanity.

(18,462 posts)But I think of some phrases:
"Whistling past the grave yard"
(Hoping for a) Deus ex Machina.
"trying to pick gnat shit out of pepper" (as in focusing obsessively on the minutia to the exclusion of the major matters that need attention now)

(4,970 posts)Elections will not matter. Dictators do not give up power. Any results not favoring the regime will be ignored and declared "fraudulent". When people protest, martial law will follow. The Orange Regime no longer needs "voters".

(1,084 posts)No longer can we run as "not trump". It aint working. We need a unified message similar to the Bernie AOC road show. We also need someone with stage presence to deliver it.
The only thing this memo shows is DCCC concentrating on regaining their majorities. Which is important, but not as important as the messaging and actions they will take when in majority.
If we somehow regain majorities and fail to act decisively, its probably curtains on the USA. Voters are tired of policy wonks debating, they are looking for action, right or wrong. Currently that action is all being done by the slimy GOP.

(152,874 posts)because unfortunately that works. It worked for the GOP when 45 got in the first time with an anti-Obama/anti-ACA vote, it worked for Democrats with Biden as an anti-45/anti-pandemic vote (including during the midterms with the overturning of Roe), and in the whiplash, it worked for 45 again with the anti-immigrant/anti-liberal base vote.
In EACH of these cases, people will EASILY ignore "economics" when they feel their very "being" is attacked - and that goes all ways.
They react reflexively, instinctively, emotionally, and viscerally.
Something as simple as "The GOP is taking away your rights" (and that can be fed all kinds of "rights" depending on the part of the country the messaging is happening because we are NOT A MONOLITH) and leave it at that.

(66,693 posts)The entire Democratic Party strategy seems to be "sit back and let them make a mess and then we'll win" and I see a lot of flaws in that.
I'm worried that DNC leaders don't seem to be talking to actual Democratic voters. At least the ones who live outside the beltway cocktail circuit.
Autumn
(47,864 posts)They should realize their "who else you gonna vote for didn't work?" "vote for me I'm not as bad as the other guy" didn't work.
I don't think this "House Republicans have already sealed their political fate. will work either.
Republicans don't give a shit about what Trump and the Republicn party does. Passing this bill will not turn off their support for their party.

(2,429 posts)Stop waiting for something to happen to stop Trump. Start TODAY throwing a wrench into his schemes and getting him thrown out of office.
You know well that, even if the next round of elections go against Trump, he will go straight to court to contest it.

(22,918 posts)Raw Story has pieced together an article based on a tweet which quotes two sentence fragments from a DCCC memo which seems to express confidence that Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot with their draconian cuts.
Is there a link to the actual memo? Id be curious to find out if this frivolous arrogant Dems storyline is accurate or whether people are just reacting to the headline.
