White House releases RFK Jr.-led report on chronic disease
Source: ABC News
The White House's Make America Healthy Again Commission offered a range of critiques about chronic disease in America in a report released Thursday, the first major byproduct of the cross-government commission headed by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Chiefly, the report blames many chronic illnesses on ultra-processed foods, chemicals in the environment, sedentary behavior and over-reliance on digital devices among children. It also suggests childhood vaccines need to be studied further.
We will not stop until we defeat the chronic disease epidemic in America, we're going to get it done for the first time ever, President Donald Trump said during a MAHA event at the White House on Thursday afternoon.
Unlike other administrations, we will not be silenced or intimidated by the corporate lobbyist or special interest. And I want this group to do what they have to do, Trump said, mentioning issues like toxic chemicals in the environment, overprescription of children and ultra processed foods.

(55,895 posts)1) Ultra-processed foods don't help, but tRump's cronies like pushing them for profit. He won't get anywhere.
2) Chems in the enviro: tRump and RepubliCons pushing massive de-regulation. He's going to get pushed backwards on that.
3) Sedentary behaviour: tRump's inaugurination donors depend on couch potatoes to buy garbage like potato chips and video games and streaming chewing gum for the mind. No dice.
4) Addiction to devices: Again with the donors. Face plant.

(4,474 posts)What will Donnie serve to his guests at the WH if not Big Macs, fries and Coke? We do most of our shopping at the local farmers' market and as I am retired the time it takes to cook from raw and scratch is not a problem. The few times I do go to the grocery store for things they just don't sell at the farmers' market, it does amaze me if I go down the cereal or frozen food aisles what low value foods they offer. And given the amount and variety I have to assume it does get sold and is not just there for it bright and decorative packaging designs.

There is evidence some Egyptian pharaohs had cancer.
They did not eat processed foods.
I am a lymphoma survivor.
I have MAGA relatives who keep sending me links to unproven treatments.
I immediately delete it.
Some of my MAGA relatives also believe that there is a hidden cure for cancer that is being suppressed by the pharmaceutical industry.
