Those hoping to hit up Costco on a particular day off in May will have to make other plans, because the company has confirmed that it will close all of its locations on one day in May.
Costco has announced that it will close all of its U.S. stores for the entire day on Memorial Day, which takes place on May 26 this year. This announcement is in line with Costco's tradition of closing all stores on major holidays, such as Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, those hoping to rush to Costco on Memorial Day for some last-minute supplies for a barbecue or get-together should make plans to go there earlier in the holiday weekend.
"Memorial Day honors the sacrifice and loss of those who served and died in the military," according to the Wounded Warrior Project. "Veterans Day honors all who have served in the U.S. military.
"Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women," adds the National Cemetery Administration.

(2,279 posts)The gas alone will pay for the cost of your membership. And even though it always appears mobbed, I generally get in and out as fast as I usually do at my local Shell station.

It's a decent gesture, in an era where decent gestures are hard to come by.

(26,008 posts)They opened the doors at 9:50 AM (10 minutes early). I picked up a few items on the list and was the first person through one of the cashier lines.
Here's the kicker: I walked out of the front door at 10:10 AM, and the parking lot was already 90% full. It is like that almost every day. There have been rumors of a second Costco location in the area (Greenville, SC), but nothing yet.
BTW: I went to Costco to buy items that would have been much easier to buy on Amazon. But Bezos and Amazon are 86'd to us.
