The resentencing hearing for Erik and Lyle Menendez on Tuesday featured emotional testimony from family members, several of whom said in court that the brothers should be freed from prison for the shotgun killing of their parents more than 30 years ago.

The result, announced at the end of the day by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic, was a potential path to release. Jesic said he would resentence the brothers to 50 years to life, giving them a chance at a parole hearing. ... "I do believe they've done enough over the last 35 years that one day they should get that chance" to be released, the judge said.

Anamaria Baralt, often wiping away tears, testified that the relatives of victims Jose and Kitty Menendez wanted a judge to give her two cousins a lesser sentence than life without parole for the 1989 murders inside their Beverly Hills mansion.

"We all on both sides of the family say 35 years is enough," she said in the Van Nuys courtroom. "They are universally forgiven by both sides of their families."

the two riding around partying in the back of a limo immediately after the killings. And, while their mother did nothing to protect them (if, as they claim, she knew about abuse), it would appear that their murder of her was particularly brutal--even more so than their father, who they claim DID abuse them.

But, I'm not making the decision and I undoubtedly don't know or remember all the facts, so...

It was all about the inheritance. They were just like Dana Ewell, only not as smart, and Ewell, despite his 180 I.Q., was dumb. Their defense was despicable trying to put the parents on trial in order to find "mitigating circumstances" so they would not get the death penalty.

Their supporters, largely female groupies, don't understand how it works with trials. Of course the brothers peddled the "abuse excuse" complete with disgusting crocodile tears in their trial of years ago so they wouldn't wind up at San Quentin.

They need to rot.
