Trump Suggests He Might Take Greenland by 'Force' in Wild Exchange With Kristen Welker: 'We Need Greenland Very Badly'

Source: MEDIAite

May 4th, 2025, 11:38 am

President Donald Trump refused to rule out using military force to acquire Greenland during an interview Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, telling anchor Kristen Welker, “We need that very badly.” The exchange took place during a wide-ranging interview on the economy, immigration, and foreign policy.

Welker asked Trump directly, “You and I talked, and I asked you if you would rule out military force to take Greenland. And you said, no, you don’t rule out anything.” Trump shared his thoughts on Greenland and Canada, which he has talked about becoming the 51st state for months:

WELKER: Would you rule out military force to take Canada?

TRUMP: Well, I think we’re not going to ever get to that point. It could happen. Something could happen with Greenland. I’ll be honest, we need that for national and international security.

WELKER: But not with Canada?

TRUMP: It’s highly unlikely. I don’t see it with Canada. I just don’t see it, I have to be honest with you.

WELKER: Okay, but you don’t rule it out for Greenland?

“I don’t rule it out,” Trump said. “I don’t say I’m going to do it, but I don’t rule out anything. No, not there. We need Greenland very badly. Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we’ll take care of, and we’ll cherish them, and all of that. But we need that for international security.” Leaders and citizens in Greenland have expressed no desire to join the US.

25th Amendment time.

(and after signing what is basically an agreement in principle for mining in Ukraine, we don't "need" Greenland at all, especially since Ukraine's stuff is not completely buried under glaciers - UNLESS we did that to hand over to Russia )

stand up to accountability and responsibility. Everything he (or someone else) doesn't like is blamed on a democratic politician, or the democrats in general. It DOES get very tiresome. You can write the script for what he's going to say in an interview, it's so blatantly obvious and repetitive. How does maga NOT get that?!

CNN is reporting that the Turd gave some interview with NBC where he babbled that he was "not sure" if he would uphold the Constitution and that he "may" use military force to take Greenland. If that is not criminal, psychotic insanity -- I don't know what is criminal, psychotic insanity. Not a single Republican is calling this insane criminal motherfucker out and demanding that he be removed from office. Every single passing day, this criminal asshole goes farther and farther into the deep end of the abyss and every day now is worse than the previous day and it will be so going forward. It will soon be Cinco de Mayo and nothing has happened with respect to the insane tariffs policies of the Turd. As best as I can determine from the financial news is that there are no high-level meetings with China happening. In about only 10 days -- by mid-May -- if these failed and insane tariffs policies are not fully rescinded (and they most likely will not be rescinded) -- a tipping point will be reached -- literally a tipping point which is a point of no return where the Chinese shipping comes pretty much to a complete halt and when that happens -- the economic billiard balls are in motion -- and they likely cannot be stopped. When this happens an economic recession is almost certain to follow. Get ready, America. The shit is about to hit the fan.

To even ask this question of someone like Trump is to only give both him and audience listening that this is a normal option he has? This is despicable, not only of him, but of any person in the media who asks it. You are effectively normalizing this horrific action.

But look at how many wars we've been in that weren't declared as such. Like Russia with Ukraine, we just name it as something other than a war... an "action" for example. It's totally ridiculous and flies in the face of the constitution... but how many republicans base what they believe and do on the pedantic meaning of a word. "Shall" and "will" being just one example.

Besides, Congress would actually have to get off it's butt and do something against their lord and savior. I find it hard to believe that will happen in my lifetime.

Obviously he sees a large land mass between Canada and Russia and thinks it's somehow bigly strategic. He has no clue as to the topography, geology, or climate or why it's suited to a low population of Inuit, a couple of small US bases, and not much else.

Yes, that's right, Chubby, we already have bases there because it's what we call an ally. You might have head of those before you fucked it all up.

he means we need their rare earths because Trump, in his infinite stupidity, cut off our supply from China, which owns about 35% of all rare earths. The U.S. and Greenland each own about one and a half percent. So, to recover from his blunder he threatens war. Yeah, that's what Nazis do.
