WASHINGTON − President Donald Trump announced he will attend Pope Francis' funeral in Rome with first lady Melania Trump.

"Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being there!" he posted on Truth Social on April 21.

Francis died Easter Monday of a stroke and irreversible heart failure, Vatican doctor Andrea Arcangeli said in a death certificate.

The pope's death on April 21 came one day after Francis greeted thousands in St. Peter's Square after Easter Mass in his open-air popemobile.

He has to always keep the spotlight on himself. Even the death of a pope won't get in his way!

His statement today included only a passing pseudo-positive reference to the pope. "He was a good man." At least he didn't say, "people say he was a good man."

But, still, he had to try to wrest the focus back onto himself. He said he "had ordered" flags fly at half-mast. "Federal and state too!" That was it. Nothing about the pope's work, his value, anything. Compare that to what other world leaders were saying. They would take the time to talk about the impact Pope Francis had on them personally as well as his effect on the world. Trump is incapable of even thinking such things, let alone utter them.

Oh, well. He'll get to be fawned over again by Italian far-right prime minister Giorgia Meloni, who is referred to as "the Italian trump." Trivia note: She was the only EU leader invited to trump's inauguration.

When he finally acknowledged the passing of the Pope, the idiot and his slut wife made the announcement from a balcony at the White House, during an Easter celebration. Standing alongside is some guy dressed in a giant rabbit costume...waving! This all while he is giving condolences. You would think someone would have the intelligence to move the rabbit out of the camera's view. This looks disrespectful and downright stupid...but then again...this is Trump's people.
