Anti-Trump rallies held across the U.S. to protest administration's policies

Opponents of President Trump's administration took to the streets of communities large and small across the U.S. on Saturday, decrying what they see as threats to the nation's democratic ideals.

The events ranged from rallies in midtown Manhattan and in front of the White House to a demonstration at a Massachusetts commemoration marking the start of the American Revolutionary War 250 years ago.

Thomas Bassford drove from his home, some three hours away in Maine, to witness the reenactment of the Battles of Lexington and Concord and "the shot heard 'round the world" on April 19, 1775, that heralded the start of the nation's war for independence from Britain.

The 80-year-old retired mason said he believed Americans today are under attack from their own government and need to stand up against it.

Cars with a Handicap placard hanging from the rear-view mirror: We're protecting Social Security Disability!

BMWs, Mercedes, Audis, etc.: We're protecting your portfolio!

Cars with children in the back: We're protecting your children!

No Cybertrucks. They probably heard about the protest and didn't go through town.

4. Numerous Protests Again in the Chicagoland Area

I was at the NW Suburb of Mount Prospect's protest; about 200 people. However, the number of cars that honked and gave the thumbs up was huge.

Of course it helped that one of the signs said, "Honk if you hate Trump."

Chicago is the last city I definitely want to visit first time! Has so many interesting things to see; landmarks, architecture, food, music, etc. 👍

And as a bit of a geography buff (I draw landscapes from my imagination, but I've looked at ?5,000+ photos 😄 over decades, and traveled to a variety of types); as originally a Manhattan-ite near the upper most area I've been at the northern tip many times. Also the southern end, as well at it's western edge, and eastern edge by the rivers.
So I have a real sense of it as an island.
But Chicago is the reverse - sitting on the edge of a gigantic, massive lake! What a difference.

Drove down State Street coming home from CPR class and 3 blocks filled with protesters on both sides of the street. I honked my horn and applauded. People chanting, waving and smiling.

I worked there around y2000 ( yeah, I prevented a disaster 😁 ) and that was before tech flooded the area, but it's still a great place.

Don't have the kind of $ to revisit. If I did, I probably would.

When I went I somehow missed the info that the participatory Science Museum would be closed the day I went! The ?Exploritorium! Big fan of our NYC Museum of Natural History, the Planetarium, and Queens NY Hall of Science.
It wasn't a total loss bc it was still right by that Big arched ?stone, and covered ?clay, or plaster structure with .fancy decorative additions by a lake. Very impressive. It was from a World's Fair?
They moved elsewhere.

The Italian Seafood dish looks tasty. I'd skip the the clams, mussels. Crab, shrimp, scallops, and fish for me plus the veggies and seasonings. Maybe not red pepper flakes. I like savory, but not heat.

Didn't think of having seafood in SF. Duh.

But I went for something cool - dim sum in their Chinatown! Yum! As a NYC'r I've had dim sum off & on for 30+ yrs since before covid in our Manhattan Chinatown. As Chinese population has also settled in other Burroughs I've been to the one in Brokklyn. And also in Queens.

Cioppino is easy to make if you have the many ingredients. I just toss in whatever I have. Usually frozen. Hard to cook for one.

Lots to see. Golden Gate Park has fly casting, bison, windmills. It was gorgeous in rhododendron/azalea time. Japanese tea garden (bring a wide angle lens)







and Japantown is cool. I always check out the Soko hardware store for unusual items.

I grew up in the Bay Area and moved away in the early aughts, right after the dot-com bubble burst and when the tech sector still acted like a positive, hopeful force for good, not like these tech bros trying to burn it all down. Not too far away, just to L.A., but I get homesick sometimes. It's more consistently liberal overall and has a "quirky" quotient like nowhere else in America save maybe New Orleans.
