Lawsuit challenges Birmingham District 8 school board election over residency issue

Lawsuit filed challenging Birmingham District 8 school board election results

A lawsuit filed in Jefferson County Circuit Court challenges the results of the Birmingham Board of Education District 8 runoff election.

According to the complaint, Pamela Bass who lost the October 7 runoff by 25 votes Claims Antwon Womack did not meet the district’s residency requirements. The filing alleges Womack was evicted from his listed address in July 2025 and failed to establish another qualifying residence before the election.

Bass is asking the court to void the results and prevent Womack from being sworn in.
