Former police chief Nick Derzis beats out incumbent Frank Brocato in Hoover mayoral race
Former Police Chief Nick Derzis beat out incumbent Frank Brocato to become mayor of Hoover on Tuesday.
Brocato started his career at the Hoover Fire Department in 1973 and was first elected mayor in 2016.
Derzis began at the Hoover Police Department in 1979 and became chief in 2005; he is currently on leave from the position as he campaigns.
Campaign signs were visible throughout Hoover, from highways to residential streets. Neighborhood mailboxes were full of campaign fliers.
