NY-17: Lawler talks about his 2012 drunk driving arrest
NEW YORK — Swing seat GOP Rep. Mike Lawler acknowledged in a TV interview today that he was arrested for drunk driving in 2012.
Lawler told News 12 he was arrested on St. Patrick’s Day 2012 while driving home on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. At the time, the 25-year-old Lawler was distraught over his father’s cancer having metastasized.
“I was going to see friends in the city that evening, and ultimately went down to the city and proceeded to drink and made a decision to drive home,” Lawler told the station.
The arrest was later resolved with a driving while ability impaired plea.
