So I'm on reddit....mostly for fun, but occasionally politics appear. Like now.
Down in a thread someone was carrying on about Dems, and Repubs = uniparty.
I pointed out the differences considering the Social Safety Net. Said they were ignorant if they didn't get that. They discounted that, and called me ignorant.
So countered with in the future if you need the safety net and Republicans have shredded more of it? Did they have elder relatives who need it now? What about them taking SNAP away from more people now.
We'll see what they say back. I hate that kind of equivalency ! I might not bother much more w that.

(2,521 posts)Nothing is ever good enough and they have a purity complex. If we lived in a utopian society they would still find reasons to complain. When you respond to them you will never get through their self importance but others will see your response and understand whats at stake.

(30,175 posts)I've known a few and they are INCREDIBLY frustrating.
A few "Bernie Bros" who refused to vote for Hilary for the reason that "she was the same" as Trump.

(2,521 posts)Any reason to oppose a democrat. Nothing anyone can say will make them happy other than voting for the green party grifter.

(358 posts)And of course, EVERYONE should try to be an adult in the proverbial room. But when Republicans aren't, their base doesn't care. When one of ours isn't, we eventually run them out of town and we've gone too far with that at times (Al Franken) but it just another example of how much more Democrats hold themselves accountable.
Weiner and Swalwell are persona non grata.

(4,389 posts)maybe not the leadership, but it's hard to see results when you aren't in power. Yes we have been bringing a knife to a gunfight for a while but some of them are getting it and doing whatever they can. But you have to be looking closely, and there is more happening behind the scenese than we know. Try listening to Sheldon Whitehouse on MSNBC, for example.

(174,052 posts)things have been getting steadily worse for some time now, and it seems heavily stacked against younger folk....I peg Reaganomics as the start
MadameButterfly
(4,389 posts)but Nixon didn't help. Both Nixon and Reagan had Democratic majorities in Congress keeping them in check.

(28,212 posts)it's sort of like ?learn some more history and see what most Dems have struggled for in bettering people's lives.

(70,364 posts)It's the reason so many young people voted for Trump. Yes, the Republicans caused all this but a lot of younger voters don't know that.
They do know that things are stacked against them.
