Omaha, Nebraska.
Denise Powell is leading John Cavanaugh with 90% of vote in and still too close to call as of late last night, early this morning.
Cavanaugh is a Trump supporter in sheeps clothing. He acts like a Democrat but has always had a GOBer mindset long before Trump was even the president the first time. Cavanaughs father was the same way when he held a seat in Congress himself in the late 70s into the early 80s. Cavanaugh has some high profile back funding from unknown sources. Some say its GOBer backed funding. I dont trust Cavanaugh or any of his tricks.
Powell is by far the better qualified candidate of the two candidates on paper and policies. She also destroyed his theory about taking the Blue Dot away from Nebraska and the Omaha area their only chance to have a Democrat voice in the elections. He is all for a complete red state.
This is for Nebraska 2nd US Congressional seat for the primary, Don Bacons seat in the US Congress.

(172 posts)Cavanaugh is not a Trump supporter! There are still about 8000 votes to be counted as of Wednesday morning. We will not know the outcome before Friday. Cavanaugh is the most qualified for the job.

(16,388 posts)He supports Trump in a lot ways. I knew him when he was younger thru a friend of mine. Hes is an absolute arrogant person. He says one thing and then flips and flops between his lies. Just look how he voted to help Ricketts and Pillen out? Whichever way you choose? Its your choice! He is not the best candidate in any way!
Oh and I never said that it was over! In fact, I said it was too close to call! There is one fact that you got wrong!

(109,862 posts)Several right wing PACs spread that lie. They don't want to face Cavanaugh in the General Election!

(5,209 posts)Says more about you and your agenda that youre insulting a Democrat with a strong record (against du rules) than it does myself or Cavanaugh.

(109,862 posts)Cavanaugh voted to eliminate income tax on overtime and tips. That does not make him a Trumper. Stop drinking the cool aid!

Edit: Cavanaugh is endorsed by Social Security Works for that reason.
She is not for raising the SS cap. She wants to go into a huddle that does nothing.

(5,209 posts)Cavanaugh has a record of being pro union and pro worker. Powell didnt receive a single union endorsement nor did I hear her speak on any issues related to labor like the PRO Act. She is a New Democrat, Cavanaugh is a progressive. The allegations of being pro Trump are outrageous and have all come from out of state pacs.

(5,209 posts)What I find interesting is that the same people who accuse progressive Democrat Cavanaugh of being a closet Trump supporter are the same people who say we need him to keep the blue dot. If he was a closet Trump supporter wouldnt he cross party lines and cast the deciding vote for winner take all? It doesnt add up.

(10,681 posts)that make it unlikely that he's a trump supporter. I don't live anywhere near Nebraska, but it seems that Republicans may have put out ads to make it seem as though he is a trump supporter to decrease support for him. He may have been an arrogant jerk when he was younger, and may still be a jerk, but that doesn't equal maga. All we should care about is who votes for Democratic policies and ideals and who can win.
BTW, I truly understand the concern as Florida has experienced the duplicity of "Democratic" candidates who flipped to Republican the moment they won their election.

(807 posts)The governor will appoint a Republican in his place in the Nebraska legislature and they will then vote to make Nebraskas electoral votes winner take all?
imanamerican63
(16,388 posts)But there are those think he a true democrat, which hes not!
That is what I meant by him helping out the GOBers more than the Democrats. Pillen probably put Cavanaugh up to this?
ForgoTheConsequence
(5,209 posts)If he isnt a true Democrat why would you trust him to not support winner take all and getting rid of the blue dot? Why would he have one of the most progressive records in the unicameral? Why would he have the endorsement of the Progressive Democratic Caucus?
