Here's what I would like to see

There are reports of discussions between Iran, the US and mediators on a 45-day ceasefire. Trump should postpone the Tuesday, 8:00 deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz during these discussions, which Trump could claim are "promising and productive" (or some such bullshit like that) and agree to this ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait.

My reasoning is that Trump cannot afford a jump of a barrel of oil to reach $150 to $170. Right now, the midterms look disastrous for his Republican allies. These talks will hopefully turn serious. Trump needs them to be serious. This will be his off ramp. Trump's biggest problem will be Netanyahu.

The final result should look something like this. The Strait will reopen and tankers will be charged a fee of $1 a barrel (appr. $2 million a tanker) to help rebuild damage in the whole Middle East, including Iran. There should be a multinational board of overseers, including Iran, to administer the Strait. Iran will agree to turn over its nuclear material to a third party and allow periodic inspections. The US will agree that they, and Israel will not strike Iran, and the US will lift sanctions. Iran will agree to stop funding proxies in exchange for a promise of lasting peace. Iran should agree to cease building offensive missiles and drones but retain the right for "defensive" weapons. The US will agree not to meddle in the internal political affairs of Iran.

It's either this, or a forever, disastrous war in the Middle East with unaffordable fuel prices for the entire world.

I rather hope some independent mediators can get in there and produce something that smells at least slightly better ...

America's military is too strong, and Trump is too much of a bully.

But everyone in the world needs relief and deals are done with both sides giving in.

for several ongoing years.
You may well be right ... But that doesn't stop me from being virtually sick to my stomach ...

( and believe me, my sympathies with Iran run a lot less deep ... but, still - lets just reward the tyranny and rape exercised by power ... because, at the end of the day - they are bigger, and we all do like our oil and gas ! )

I read yesterday he has told Trump to obliterate Iran and get it over.
