Mediators push for possible 45-day ceasefire in Iran vs. US and Israel

April 5 (Reuters) - The U.S., Iran and a group of ​regional mediators are discussing the terms ‌for a potential 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a permanent end to the war, Axios ​reported on Sunday, citing four U.S., ​Israeli and regional sources with knowledge ⁠of the talks.

Reuters could not immediately verify ​the report.

The White House and the U.S. ​State Department did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

The mediators are discussing the terms ​of a two-phased deal, the report ​said, adding that the first phase would be a ‌potential ⁠45-day ceasefire during which a permanent end to the war would be negotiated.

The second phase would be an agreement on ​ending the war, ​the ⁠report said.

5. Couple of things:

1. Mediators have to be independent with no conflicts of interest whatsoever.
2. There has to be consequences and accountability for the first country to break the ceasefire.
3. During the ceasefire, a final agreement to cede hostilities has to include that the U.S. and Israel and Saudi Arabia forfeit their conceived rights to any land, water, and oil belonging to Iran. No spoils of war.
4. No country will declare itself the winner of this conflict. It will just end.
