Andy Beshear - KY Senate?

As much as I love DU, I'm not constantly on here reviewing every post, and I'm not incredibly adept at searching for specific items; all that to say, forgive me if this is a repeat post/thought.

Governor Andy Beshear is one of the MOST popular Governors in the country by any measure, which is FASCINATING considering how red KY is politically. Is there a reason he did not file to run for the US Senate (for McConnell's seat)? OR, is there a chance he may do so in a later upcoming election (Rand Paul's seat in 2028)? Or have Presidential aspirations vacated that possibility?

I just think that with the above information, he would be THE BEST CHANCE for us to flip a Senate seat in KY. Maybe the ONLY chance? Just curious what others may think.

4. Right; I was more wondering why it was never considered (OR if it may be a consideration for 2028, Rand Paul's seat).

5. My only gentle pushback would be what we're seeing in NC (Cooper leading polls for Senate).

Although, you could (successfully, easily) argue that NC is much more purple than KY. Again, a moot point considering the deadline is passed, but just a question.

although a tiny minority of the party may entertain fantasies about Beshear as
a 2028 Dem presidential candidate--- he would have a better chance of success
as a U.S. Senate candidate--- since most of the country,
outside of political junkies like on this site,
have never heard of him...

but isn't being governor a little more prestigious?

Also, I do think he will run for president.

Janet Mills (current running in ME), Jim Justice in WV, John Hickenlooper in CO... even Larry Hogan in MD.

I feel it's more about what the party NEEDS and how we can fulfill that. To which I hope he is considering this for 2028 against Rand Paul. Just my take.
