but almost everywhere else as well.
In New York and New Jersey, ICE is expanding its physical footprint rapidly. In Roseland, New Jersey, less than an hours drive from New York City, ICE is moving into a building at 5 Becker Farm Road. The building is located near the Roseland Child Development Center. In Woodbury, New York, a hamlet in Long Island, ICE is moving into offices located at 88 Froehlich Farm Boulevard, near an expedited passport center. In New Windsor, New York, a town within driving distance of New York City along the Hudson River known for the Storm King Art Center, ICE is moving into offices at 843 Union Avenue. All three of these locations are within an hour and a half from a warehouse in Chester, New York, that DHS is pursuing as an immigrant detention center.
Several planned ICE office spaces are located near schools and early-childhood care centers. ICE is poised to move into a building on 1000 Westlakes Drive in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, suburb of Berwyn; the Hillside Elementary School is about a mile away. In Hartford, Connecticut, OPLA is poised to expand existing ICE office space in the Abraham A. Ribicoff federal building, which sits two blocks from the Betances elementary school. Back in Tennessee, ICE is ready to move into offices at 5904 Ridgeway Center Parkway in Memphis, in a building near the private all-girls Hutchison School. In the Columbus, Ohio, suburb of Westerville, OPLA appears ready to move into a small office building at 774 Park Meadow, near the Oakstone Academy High School. In Meridian, Idaho, ICE is moving into the Portico at Meridian Center, which is located near the Spalding STEM Academy high school. And in Oakbrook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, ICE is moving into the Oakbrook Gateway, an office building located near both a Bright Horizons daycare center and a hospice center.

(129,821 posts)We've been effectively throwing sand in their gears for months now, and we're still not budging. While I'm not delusional enough to think they will be packing up and leaving despite their promise to "draw down," they have had to work very hard to make Stephen Miller's quota of roofers, hotel maids, journalists and murdered observers. I have no doubt that the good folks of Philadelphia will dig in just as hard.

(28,109 posts)Berwyn is Western Main Line territory and for their convoy to come down every day via the Schuylkill Expressway or Rt 30 is gonna be at least an hour into Philly, presuming that that is where theyre looking to deploy, which, I must add, is a BIG mistake.
Berwyn is a politically conservative area and they likely consider themselves safe there. We shall see.

(28,109 posts)The traffic is horrendous most of the time from that area to Philly. Theyre gonna be stuck in traffic a lot.

(3 posts)Im on LI. Weve been getting hit here since last spring. Its just not the made for TV version youve seen in Minneapolis, etc., but ICE is active on LI literally every single day, and while Long Beach hasnt been hit as hard as some other places, theyve been hit.

(3 posts)Sorry, you took that the wrong way. When I say, Made-for-TV version, its not to say its fake. Its the EXTRA version they want for the cameras to rile up the MAGAts and to try to intimidate those of us who stand up to them.
We dont get coverage here, because they havent brought the EXTRA version here yet.

All good! I can totally see why you took it like that. Short-form writing
Theyre here every day, and I spent my first-ever night in jail in October for honking my horn to warn people the guy in front of me was ICE, but we havent had gas or flashbangs or guys breaking down doors. They move around in 4-5 unmarked vehicles at a time, and interrogate/kidnap brown people. A lot of the time, if we find them and can draw enough attention to them, they leave.
That said, weve started seeing marked SUVs being delivered to the Island 24 that we know of so far. We havent seen a single marked vehicle in action ever, and they can serve no practical purpose in snatching people. They can only be used for instigation and intimidation. Were concerned were the next made-for-TV event. Were investing in ballistic goggles (safety glasses are not rated to stop pepper balls), respirators, etc.
