(9,975 posts)So, yes, I would say that Elizabeth Warren would be the first person that comes to mind when I think of politicians against monopolies.
If we want to acknowledge those that have spoken out against them at some point, well, then we can probably acknowledge most every Democrat then.

(58,013 posts)And that's a good thing.

(22,343 posts)But right now we are being taken over by monopolies.
Kohl was a moderate. He was never as popular as Feingold in Wisconsin, but he got a lot of votes from the other side. And I appreciated him for speaking out against monopolies.
And now we have Senator Ron Johnson, straight from Russia.

(1,314 posts)they are nearly 100% there already. It has been building for decades folks........
Fascism is basically the merger of Corporations and Government......
2010 "Citizens United" provided the final piece they needed.
The Corporations have succeeded in buying the best politicians.
Some day, we may see the *United States of America*, become the *United Corporations of America*.....
Orwell had it right, except for one important thing......it is not the government we needed to watch out for, but the corporations we needed to stop........

(13,496 posts)I was for Newsom up until yesterday when he came out against a wealth tax we dont need a Republican light. We are in this place cuz democrats for too long have been happy with chipping around the edges. We need someone with a conviction to break this corrupt income inequality system. We need an FDR New Deal Movement otherwise we are doomed and a leader who is unafraid to take on the wealthy. Im only voting for a candidate committed to doing so as well as add on the Supreme Court. No study/feasibility commission we know what the problem is. Sooo disappointed in Gavin but he lost my vote.

(4,100 posts)We can't keep throwing away great candidates for single issues like this. You were for him up to yesterday, until he said this? Maybe.

(18 posts)Were not talking about gay rights, abortion, gun control were talking about the single biggest issue that affects everyone but the ultra wealthy. Read the room and the polls Unless youve been living under a rock affordability is the number one issue. 5 years ago we had zero centibillionaires That word didnt exist 5 years ago they actually had to make a new word. . Today there are 15 all but two living in the US. This corrupt system with tax breaks and avoidance is so unfair and contributes mightily to our current economic condition. How anyone can say this makes me a single issue voter is uninformed and will be voting for a losing candidate.

I don't want a fkn nice guy or gal. I want what the whiner-in-Chief calls 'nasty.' The'nastier' the better. Someone who'll roll around in the dirt with him, who won't mind calling him a sob or a mf, and who'll give right back same as he/she gets.
Someone who'll kick some azz then laugh about it.

Camille Zapata and her viral social media posts for Governor Gavin Newsom
Zapata currently manages the CAGovernor Instagram account and creates posts that match the tone and cadence of Trumps all-caps tweets. Ever since taking over, she has turned Newsoms digital channels into a hub for sharp political commentary and trolling. Camille and her team often post swift reactions on platforms like Twitter, Threads, and BlueSky, which have all helped Newsoms TikTok audience grow from 500,000 to 1.5 million followers.
