(1,240 posts)Weren't corrupt themselves, they were just really bad judges of character and had a lot of bad apples in their Administrations. Nixon was in on the shady stuff, so he gets the mark prior to this.
But Nixon isn't even in the same galaxy as Trump.

(21,702 posts)Trump makes Grant look like a piker by comparison.
The main difference is Grant came into office with the spoils system of appointments in place for years, and didnt have a web of personal businesses to funnel money to.

"Nixonian" is an adjective referring to or characteristic of U.S. President Richard Nixon, his policies, or his administration. It most often carries a negative connotation, implying qualities like sneakiness, secrecy, evasiveness, or a tendency to act as if one has something to hide, particularly due to the association with the Watergate scandal. However, it can also be used more neutrally to describe other aspects of his presidency, such as his policy initiatives.
Negative meaning:
Sneaky, secretive, or scandalous
Evasive or untruthful
Acting as if one has something to hide
Often associated with the Watergate scandal and abuse of power
Neutral or positive meaning:
Referring to his policies or actions
Such as his foreign policy shifts (détente with China and the Soviet Union) or the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
More neutral descriptions might also refer to aspects of his governing style, like using the power of the office in a strategic way.
