BloombergThe US Army Corps of Engineers will pause $11 billion in infrastructure projects in 12 states that voted for Democrat Kamala Harris in 2024 as the White House continues to exert leverage in talks to end a government shutdown now in its 17th day.
The Democrat shutdown has drained the Army Corps of Engineers ability to manage billions of dollars in projects, White House budget director Russ Vought said in a social media post Friday.
An OMB spokesperson said projects affected include those in New York Harbor, Port of Long Beach, Baltimore Harbor, and several in the San Francisco Bay Area. Other states with impacted projects include Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Rhode Island.
But most of the paused spending $7 billion of the $11 billion is in New York state, which President Donald Trump has singled out. The state is represented by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who has blocked a bill to end the shutdown in a fight over extension of health insurance subsidies under the Affordable Care Act. Other New York projects being halted include water and sewer projects in Queens, New York.

Bloomberg has gotten its hands on some of the details of the billion Army Corps cuts. Apparently, most comes from New York. Includes New York Harbor projects and Queens sewer/water projects. The flooding problems in Queens are no secret. -- www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
