(4,366 posts)One of the guys was wearing a t-shirt that showed "Wokey the Bear" saying "Only you can resist fascist liars." It was a big hit among the rest of us.
Thanks!

There were pictures of Eric and Don jr and the sign read, "I have something in common with tRump, we both have two boobs". She had 2 big, pink balloons under the sign.....so funny!

(6,834 posts)but decided they might appreciate it if I actually signed up, so I did. I got a really nice email from the person hosting it and explaining a little bit about them. They're usually out there every single weekend. She said, usually it's about 8 people. When they did the first No Kings, they almost got to 20. So, hubby and I will hopefully make that 22... and the other couple that's deciding now whether to go or not (she's furloughed; he's with IRS and waiting to see if he's going to have a job) will make 24. If my sister's "cake testing" for her son's wedding is done early enough, she'll join us, too.... I have two others that want to go, but she carries around oxygen and can't even get to my house to visit, let alone get out anywhere else.
I was a little disappointed when I read about the size of the group. When we did the first No Kings, we were in Lenexa, KS and I know we had a crowd of nearly 500+. The entire park was wall to wall people, and it's a huge park in an upper class neighborhood. WE had a blast with all those people. But you know, I got to thinking that the smaller crowd lends itself to actually getting acquainted with people and maybe making new friends. And that's a real appealing aspect to me. Besides, like I've said before, this is an area that's probably close to 70% Mexican American, 20% black, and 10% "other." We lived in the city/county for over 10 years and loved it. My sister teaches at the Catholic elementary school in the barrio area, a few miles from where we'll be. So, there's a lot of connection for us to the land, to the people, and to the cause.
I'm thinking, depending on how it goes, maybe the host might like a little help next time around... meanwhile, I'm going to concentrate on recruiting some of these better off people I know to maybe stick their necks out for everyone else!!!!

(6,834 posts)Unfortunately, hubby's cat puked ALL over the bedsheets, so I ended up stripping the bed, doing laundry, and trying to make the bed (a very hard task for me with my back!). That's on top of spending hours trying to get started with a new email address and moving saved emails over to the new place. I thought I had some time to rest up and eat a cookie... but then I saw the time. I've got to get supper started now. AND I'm out of pain pills. Which means tomorrow is going to be hard to handle, as well. Not that it'll stop me, just that I'll probably be in bed for the two days following.

(6,834 posts)they're going to drive over here, pick us up, and then we're all going to travel to KCKS for the rally. I'm so excited. My friend's husband and I have known each other for like 30 years, and we're completely sympatico on a lot of things, but especially politics. We get together and our spouses leave... they get tired of it, but Phil and I just get wound up and go on and on and on... enjoying every moment. It's like a catharsis.
But I'll admit, after doing supper, I'm ready to hit the bed. But I still need to figure out the signs for tomorrow. I wish I were more creative where this type of thing is concerned. (sigh)... I'm trying to convince myself to let it go tonight and have hubby make sure I get up early enough in the morning to do it. But I hate to feel that stressed for time. On the up side, when I asked hubby to go get poster board from WalMart the other day for this, they only had ONE left. That bodes well, I think!

(1,612 posts)I can easily twirl the sign from side to side. One side has an image of the upper torso of the Statue of Liberty with these words coming from her lips, this bullshit has to stop!. The other side says, America is a dictator free zone.

(67 posts)IMO, as clever as some of these ideas sound, the best "sign" would simply be a flag.
The best optic to shut down trump's narrative describing us as un-American would be a sea of American flags, the only signs should read simply WE THE PEOPLE. Seems to me that videos and news reports showing millions waving the flag would speak louder than anything.
