Idaho retirees shocked their $51 health plan will now cost $2,232 a month -- beg GOP senator to save the ACA subsidies

Ruby red Idaho.

That decision is at the heart of the government shutdown fight on Capitol Hill, with Democrats saying Republicans must agree to keep in place the enhanced subsidies, first introduced in 2021, before they’ll vote to reopen the government. Without the tax credits, average out-of-pocket premiums are expected to rise by $1,200 a year in Idaho, a 75% increase, according to state health officials.

Only Donald’s needs are his concern. And he needs child rape hidden.
Mikes message to him, same as trump message to disaster victims. “Get over it” while he helped his 19 year old son scam $80 million in a few hours.

when people say Medicare for all, do they truly understand how much it costs? I'm not referring to the "Advantage" scam, I mean regular Part B plus supplement plus Part D, etc.

I detest the "Advantage" crap because the money lost to that scam is what SHOULD be shoring up regular Medicare.

Premiums are in the upper one hundreds a month, and Medicare only pays 80% of people's bills.

To avoid a non profit system

I've been hearing "Medicare For All" for decades. The concept has always been popular, in a vague way before people started learning how much their parents and grandparents are actually paying for sups.

Have to wonder if once EVERYONE is expected to pay upwards of $300 a month or so, politicians will finally say "okay, yes Medicare For All"

Places like Canada have it all figured out but here in dumbfuckistan, we have no idea how to do it and it will cost too much to take care of our own citizens. Never thought I would hear that hetre. Am I on the right board!?!!?!?

we are paying twice as much as other countries, per capita, and we have hundreds of billions of dollars going to stock buybacks and dividends.
We also have multi layer companies like United healthcare, taking a cut at every level of their empire. We pay insurance, such as United healthcare, and they pay hospitals that they own, doctors that they employ, administrators who work to deny claims, pharmacies that they own, And they make investments in AI to issue claim denials.

Administrative costs are very high because nobody pays bills fast, because the bills are like random number generators… Far from being efficient, i think they have an incentive to keep it complicated.

As citizens we are fed, clickbait celebrity gossip and sports, when what we need is a more sophisticated grasp of the way the system is actually operating

MFA saves about one third the cost of healthcare. The question becomes why can’t we not afford to save one third. Reasons why this happens. All the private profit is taken out and because only the government pays allows the government to refuse to pay for ridiculous overpriced drugs and procedures.

This will have a giant trickle down effect. Affordable Healthcare helps keep our economy strong. As people drop coverage, other health care plans will also go up.

Republicans and Trump are about to cause an economic and public health crisis. Is this Trump's goal?

It is some relative of Trump's understanding of percentages.

75% is not double or more.

A 75% increase of a $51 premium would still be below $100 a month - not o over $2000 a month.

If the average dollar increase is $1200, that means the premiums are currently averaging $1500 (nowhere near what the $15 example in the article says their current v premium is), and will go to to $2700 a month.

I'm sure the premiums are going to increase dramatically, and an glad they are getting PR - during the shutdown so that people will understand what the loss of subsidies will mean to their pocketbook. But it is hard to tell from the article how much they are currently paying, let alone what they will jump to because the percentages funny match the dollars.
