General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI received my voter guide for Ca's special election and I am pleased to report that right after the the page that lists
voting locations, and the sample ballot was a page in print so large I could read it without my glasses
Voter Bill of Rights
*You have the following rights*
There are ten rights listed. I can type out all ten if requested.
I dont remember seeing this before. So Gavin and company must be worried about disinformation coming from the MAGA crowd.
But I was pleased and proud to see it.

(2,720 posts)1. You have the right to vote if you are a registered voter.
US citizen, 18 years old, registered where you currently live, not currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony,
not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court
2. The right to vote if you are a registered voter even if your name is not on the list.
You will vote using a provisional ballot. Your vote will be counted if election officials determine that you are eligible to vote.
3. The right to vote if you are still in line when the polls close.
4. The right to cast a secret ballot without anyone bothering you or telling you how to vote.
5. The right to get a new ballot if you make a mistake, if you have not already voted.
Ask an election official for a new ballot, exchange your vote-by-mail ballot, use a provisional ballot.
6. The right to get help casting your ballot from anyone you choose, except your employer or union representative.
7. The right to drop off your completed vote-by-mail ballot at any polling place in California.
8. The right to get election materials in a language other than English if enough people in your voting precinct speak that language.
9. The right to ask questions to election officials about election procedures and watch the election process.
If the person you ask cannot answer your questions, they must send you to the right person for an answer.
If you are disruptive, they can stop answering you.
10. The right to report any illegal or fraudulent election activity to an election official or the Secretary of States office.
There is also information about polling hours.
AND
If you are a newly registered voter, you may be asked to provide appropriate ID according to federal law. But please note that every individual has the right to cast a provisional ballot even if he or she does not provide the documentation.
It is against the law to represent yourself as being eligible to vote unless you meet all the requirements under federal and state law.
It is against the law to tamper with voting equipment.
If you believe that you have been denied any of these rights, call the SOS confidential toll free hotline. Email, 800 number and website provided.
As I said before, this is a new thing that I havent noticed before. I think they did it to counter the MAGA propaganda that will undoubtedly be spewing out about the election.

(2,720 posts)Since I am old and slow and only have an iPad, it took a while. I am grateful to Usonian for posting the information and I am also grateful to you for wanting to see all the information.

(23,928 posts)Thank you again, jls4561. I'm glad more people are seeing what Newsom is doing, not just the people in CA.

(20,773 posts)That said, I have gotten some very good results selecting text from an iPhone image.
I have not gotten the printed copy, since my mailbox is 1/4 mile walk ( with a 100 foot elevation driveway to hike to get back home, mail or not ) and the PO box is 12 miles away.
When I first moved here, age 66, my daughter said I would be doing wind sprints up the slope. Not exactly. 76 now, and I put myself on light duty (for the day) So I can reorganize the home tomorrow.
Maybe.
Appreciate your efforts!

(869 posts)They are also posted at each polling site. Ballots should start going out to voters in about two weeks and I'll be sure to drop mine off at our local library which is an early voting drop off site. I'm not only voting YES on Prop 50 but I'm waiting for a yard sign supporting Prop 50 that I can place in my condo window overlooking a busy parking lot.
