"Even though the alleged murderer of Charlie Kirk has been apprehended – and even reportedly confessed in a Discord group chat — that hasn't stopped MAGA pundits from spreading conspiracy theories accusing President Donald Trump's administration of not telling the whole truth.

Bulwark reporter Will Sommer wrote Monday that the MAGA media world was being "pulled apart" by conspiracies questioning the FBI's handling of Kirk's murder. Far-right podcast host Michael Savage suggested over the weekend that alleged killer Tyler Robinson was a patsy, doubting the government's claims that he disassembled the rifle used for the killing before jumping off of a rooftop, only to re-assemble it before abandoning the weapon (a firearms expert told NewsNation that it was indeed possible for the gunman to disassemble the weapon relatively quickly with the help of "after-market accessories.&quot

"Something is wrong with this whole f------ picture," Savage said. "We are not hearing or seeing reality ... We're supposed to believe a guy is on the run after killing Charlie Kirk, and he pauses in the woods to reinstall a barrel. And he leaves it there for us to find, for the FBI to find?"

Coming from Savage, I could see that being something he could convince his followers was true. They are all extremely suggestible.

Also, how does Savage know that the gun was broken down on the roof, and re-assembled in the woods? Are both facts widely reported at this point?

To his point though I've always thought it was bizarre he tried to take it with him at all, unless it's actually registered to him or a family member. The smart play was to take off and leave it there. But I'm sure he panicked heavily, he's just 22 and not like some trained special forces dude.

In the footage of him jumping off the roof it looks to me like he has the fully assembled rifle in a duffle bag of some kind.
You can see it in the video at the end of this post and decide for yourself.

In the pre-shooting video he appears to only have a backpack, so either it is disassembled there or it was already staged on the roof.

But Savage and those like him do not care about any of that. They found out long ago that there is fame and money in pushing untruths to an audience all-too hungry to adopt them as gospel. And that is a huge part of where we find ourselves in this moment: too many among us want a story; not a truth.

In ancient times a story could serve humanity well by easing the uncertainty of not having the knowledge base at hand to develop a truth. A story was better than nothing, and it could serve as a stand-in for real knowledge to help humans move forward collectively and organize.

But in modern times it seems knowledge is a victim of its own success. People still crave a story. And in a world where knowledge has made so many strides in curing disease, making life easier to live, explaining what once seemed inexplicable, and creating a global community through technology that was once unimaginable, the stories have to get evermore outrageous to be relevant.

Unfortunately, truth is what it is--but a story can be whatever you want it to be. And for too many among us those stories are driving them to participate in our very destruction.

So we have Candice, Tucker, MTG, Massie, and lots of young Republicans up against the pro Israel conservatives. Have you seen the clips on X of Kirk doing an Israel reversal?? - finally sympathetic to children of Gaza and questioning Israel’s reaction to Oct 7 after yrs of kissing Israel’s butt. Not saying he was changing his mind out of the goodness of his heart but because he spent 13 yrs building up Turning Points and the young kids kept arguing with him about genocide. He had to keep his followers happy by presenting both sides.

When Candace was young, Charlie hired her and they were together every day traveling around US & even went to Israel together. She posted tons of photos of them together- fishing, singing etc. Sounds like they still spoke regularly.

He was Israel’s guy with tons of money from Israel backers and SUDDENLY he brings anti genocide speakers to his huge Turning Points event in Tampa in July. So - at Turning Points, we have Republican youth clapping the loudest for the Jewish Libertarian anti genocide Dave Smith - not for the pro Israel Doug Hammer.
Many said Republican youth in polls were now anti genocide so Charlie had to give both sides to appease the kids. Israel lost it and offered big bucks to Charlie which he refused.

Huge break in Reputation party. Now Sam Altman is being accused of threatening Charlie. It’s all bad as now the a** hole Trump is saying he thinks the people who yelled free Palestine at him when he was in a restaurant need to be found and jailed.

Now being reported that Gen X are the biggest believers that Israel killed Kirk. Republicans attacking Republicans big time over this and no one has any confidence in FBI under Kash Patel.

Both parties are being divided by the by the genocide and I’m happy to live in NM with 2 wonderful anti- genocide senators - Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Lujan.
