Putin Is Testing NATO and The West

"...The British fighters, based at Coningsby in Lincolnshire, will join Nato’s new Eastern Sentry mission working alongside French, German and Danish counterparts who are acting as reinforcements for Dutch F-35s and Polish F-16s...

Over the weekend, Romania became the second Nato ally in eastern Europe to detect a Russian drone crossing into its airspace in a week – and Healey said the Typhoons mission would extend operations to the country if deemed necessary.

He said: “They are deployed as part of the Nato Eastern Sentry air policing. What Nato decides to and where it decides to deploy them will be for Nato. That’s part of our contribution to the alliance.”...

...On Friday, Nato leaders announced the creation of Operation Eastern Sentry, a plan to better protect the skies over alliance members in eastern Europe, starting with Poland. The alliance’s most senior military chief, Gen Alexus Grynkewich, said Nato was “bringing additional resources to bear” in the effort...

Healey said the Typhoons would be “operational and involved within days”. Though based in Lincolnshire, from where it takes about 90 minutes to reach Poland, they are supported by a dedicated Voyager air-to-air refuelling aircraft, allowing them to prolong their missions if necessary.

The British effort would be supported by 400 military personnel in the UK, the minister added. “It’s not just a few planes in the air, it’s a significant operation, part of a much bigger Nato exercise on the eastern flank,” Healey said...."

Most Americans support NATO while trump navel gazes & looks for ways to profit from the Russia-Ukraine War. It sounds obvious until one sees the Russian attacks on a peaceful & prosperous EU, and the military buildup trump forces on the West by being a fool for the axis of evil.

Only the felon, who by doing nothing for Ukraine is doing something for Putin. He's one hobbling strongman passively helping another hobbling strongman while they push the tough guy memes.

Maybe take into account that the war isn't properly and objectively covered by corporate msm so that you're given the impression that the putin the war criminal's attacks on civilians are formidable.

12. Europe only did the right thing after Biden twisted their arms.

France and Germany have cosy oil and money deals with Putin and didn't want to disrupt them.
Which is how Putin had engineered and manipulated Europe.
Money deals to make them look the other way when he brutally invaded Ukraine.
Biden was not having it.

13. True. Their oil imports from Russia are now down to 3% from 21% in 2024. So that's something.

from DeepMind AI...

Several major pipelines that previously carried Russian natural gas (not LNG) to Europe have ceased or have severely limited operations.

Nord Stream 1 & 2: Both of these pipelines, running under the Baltic Sea to Germany, were damaged by explosions in September 2022 and are now inoperable.

Ukrainian transit route: Transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to the EU largely ended in January 2025 after Kyiv did not renew its transit contract.

TurkStream: This pipeline, which runs through the Black Sea, is one of the few remaining conduits for Russian gas to reach Europe, mainly supplying Hungary and Slovakia in Central and Southern Europe.

Europe's shift to LNG
In response to the disruption of Russian pipeline gas supplies, the EU rapidly increased its capacity to receive LNG.
The U.S. has become the EU's largest LNG supplier, accounting for 45% of total EU LNG imports in 2024.
Between 2022 and 2024, the EU commissioned 12 new LNG terminals and expanded six others, increasing its import capacity.
For the first time in the first quarter of 2025, the EU imported more LNG than pipeline gas.
--------------------

Though EU seems to be stuck with trump for oil deliveries, he won't disrupt Big Oil over his support for putin. For him it's just business.

5. Sure, but he's only one reason why Putin's testing NATO. NATO might be slow to arm up, but once it does,

Putin's drones and missiles won't even be able to mount a defense, particularly if he hits EU civilians as he does in Ukraine. NATO is 32 countries. Russia and Belarus are just two.

What about our interests in saving the EU and the West? Isn't it possible that we're a bit behind re Putin's long range vision?

Why is trump the first thing people think about?

He's not respected by the troops and their commanders know it.

I guess the question then becomes whether the military is wholly owned by him now.
