"I'll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

"The Federal Government, under my auspices as President of the United States of America, has stepped into the complete criminal mess that was Washington, D.C., our Nation’s Capital," Trump posted on Truth Social at 1:06 a.m. EST Sunday. "Because of this, D.C. has gone from one of the most dangerous and murder ridden cities in the U.S.A., and even around the World, to one of the safest – In just a few weeks."

Violent crime had fallen 35 percent in the district, to the lowest rate in over 30 years, by the start of this year before Trump even became president. Several reports also claimed the city had seen plunging tourism rates while businesses such as restaurants reported drops in customers — reports that Trump clearly disagreed with.

"The 'place' is absolutely booming, with restaurants, stores, and businesses packed and, for the first time in decades, virtually NO CRIME," Trump posted. "It has been a beautiful thing to watch but, now, under pressure from the Radical Left Democrats, Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has presided over this violent criminal takeover of our Capital for years, has informed the Federal Government that the Metropolitan Police Department will no longer cooperate with ICE in removing and relocating dangerous illegal aliens. If I allowed this to happen, CRIME would come roaring back."

"To the people and businesses of Washington, D.C., DON’T WORRY, I AM WITH YOU, AND WON’T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN," the president added. "I’ll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! President DJT."

(CNN) — President Donald Trump says he will call a national emergency once again in Washington, DC, if local police do not cooperate with immigration enforcement.

The president said in a Truth Social post overnight that the move had reduced crime in the district but that if local police do not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, crime would rise again.

His comments come after the national emergency and federal takeover he declared in August expired last week. Trump has said the move, which included sending in National Guard troops, is necessary to fight crime and has threatened to target other mostly Democratic-run cities. But critics have called it a “dangerous power grab.”

Here’s how media should be describing his posts:

The president said, in yet another erroneous Truth Social post overnight riddled with unnecessary capital letters, quotation marks and exclamation points.

year he will have Fed troops in every major U.S. city. But if he and Miller are doing such a great job of deporting all those horrible worst-of-the-worsts, how can he use crime as the excuse (rhetorical question)?
