continue to spread division. It's profitable and will continue if unchecked. To use a biological metaphor, they are vectors of what is making us sick. We should be thinking of that.

Rush Limbaugh went mostly unchecked. There was no immediate political advantage to criticize him in the 90's, or 2000's because of the blow back, so he just spent 3 hours a days for 30 years spreading divisiveness to 10's of millions of people that kept growing and has now exploded. Same with his 100's of imitators.

Similar with Fox News. There are occasional quibbles in mainstream media, occasional references to some blatant transgression that a Fox News host made. But it's more like an eye rolling, you know what I mean aside, like hey did you see what the other guys did. Not a thoughtful, sustained attack on the overt strategy and overall continuous dishonesty of these sources of division.

So if anything is going to change, we have to stop with the "well here's what they say and here's what we say" approach and come up with a strategy to counteract the source of what's making us sick.

In the real world the majority go about coexisting with colleagues, neighbors, friends.

Teachers, cashiers, doctors, welders, caregivers, seniors, engineers, the disabled....all get about with their lives.

People aren't standing in walmart screaming at each other

There was a single unifying issue that divided the country geographically and economically. Also, our country was young and on its way to becoming an empire.

This is a quite different situation. We are seeing the dissolution of our global power and influence. For the first time in our nation's history the U.S. under Trump is contracting and losing power, wealth, innovation, and influence.

Post-empire nations go through things. It is likely to be very bad for decades to come.

I agree, Joe Biden should have been the most unifying President in ages, but the media raked him over the coals as he was delivering the biggest gains for the working class in generations.
