Nicholas Joseph Fuentes

(born August 18, 1998) is an American far-right[6] political commentator, activist, live streamer and leader of the Groypers who promotes white supremacist,[7] misogynistic,[8][9] homophobic,[9] and antisemitic views. Fuentes has promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories against Jews, called for a "holy war" against them,[10][11] and has denied the Holocaust.[12] He has been described as a neo-Nazi by various sources.[13][14][15] Fuentes identifies as a member of the incel movement,[16] a supporter of authoritarianism, an integralist, and a Christian nationalist.[5][17]

Fuentes was raised in La Grange Park, Illinois, and studied at Lyons Township High School where he embraced far-right conservative views. He began political activism in 2016 and started the episodic live stream America First in 2017. Collaborating with Patrick Casey, a former leader of the neo-Nazi organization Identity Evropa in 2019, Fuentes' followers began to heckle Charlie Kirk and his organization Turning Point USA's Culture War Tour, including a speaking event for Donald Trump Jr. This is referred to as the Groyper War. In 2020, seeking to establish a white supremacist conference to rival the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Fuentes began holding the annual America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC). ....

Family's influence and views
His parents [William and Lauren (née Chicco)] have been noted to share racist views through their son's accounts and direct participation in his livestreams. His mother appeared on his podcast in December 2021, where she made anti-Black comments about a shooting at Oakbrook Center, asking "What flavor do you think it was?" and asserting it was a "gang shooting," while questioning the lack of shooter information, implying racial stereotypes about crime; he referenced a racist conspiracy theory suggesting media delays in identifying non-white perpetrators, to which his mother agreed with "Yep, yep."[22] When he noted to his mother: "How long did that take before you’re calling out Blacks, you’re calling out k****,” [a slur for Jewish people]," and then asked "Where do I get it." His mother responded, "I have no idea, you get it from your dad."

Fuentes has described his father's aversion to restaurants like Applebee's and Red Lobster, calling them "black fare" and recalling family refusals to eat there, with his father stating "we will never eat at Applebee's" and "not in a million years should you be caught dead" at such places.[29] He also mentioned, before his birth, a family saying about Olive Garden containing the N-word, linking it to perceived associations with Black people.[29] ....

The Rise of White Nationalist Hispanics

(Professor Tanya K. Hernández: ).... Nick Fuentes, identified as a “white supremacist” in Justice Department filings, made headlines last week for hosting a white nationalist conference in Florida. His father is also half Mexican American.

The big picture: Fuentes is part of a small but increasingly visible number of far-right provocateurs with Hispanic backgrounds who spread racist, antisemitic messages. …

Racism is deeply rooted in Latin American and Caribbean nations, where slavery was common, Tanya K. Hernández, a Fordham University law professor and author of the upcoming book, “Racial Innocence: Unmasking Latino Anti-Black Bias,” told Axios. “In Latin America, white supremacy is alive and well.”

The rise of white nationalist Hispanics

.... ... His father is also half Mexican American. ....

What they're saying: Experts tell Axios far-right extremism within the Latino community stems from three sources: Hispanic Americans who identify as white; the spread of online misinformation; and lingering anti-Black, antisemitic views among U.S. Latinos that are rarely openly discussed. ....

But, but, but: There are limits to how accepted some far-right Latino activists can become in white supremacist and neo-Nazi circles, Mark Pitcavage, a senior research fellow at the ADL's Center on Extremism, told Axios.

Some extremists on 4chan and 8chan say Fuentes' Latino heritage disqualifies him from speaking on white supremacy, Pitcavage said. Meanwhile, some white supremacist elements of the Proud Boys dismiss Tarrio as a leader but so far he has withstood the criticism, said Pitcavage, who monitors the chats. ....

Why White Supremacist Groups Attract Latinos to Their Ranks
Former FBI agent Mike German, who went undercover to infiltrate white supremacist groups, explains the phenomenon.

The idea seems counterintuitive: Latinos, often targets themselves of racist hatred, supporting an extremist far-right movement with white supremacy beliefs. But recent events have exposed their involvement as both members and leaders.

They form a small but perplexing minority that includes Proud Boys ex-leader Enrique Tarrio, a Cuban-American convicted of seditious conspiracy for his role in the January 6 insurrection; Nick Fuentes, of Mexican-American descent and an outspoken white supremacist and antisemite who made news when he met former President Trump and rapper Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago last year; and Mexican-American Mauricio Garcia, who shot and killed eight people, most of them Latino and Asian, at a shopping mall in Allen, Texas, last May. ....

With Latinos, white supremacists identify anyone with European heritage as white. So as long as they said their ancestry traced back to Spain, they could therefore be considered European. The fact of having a Spanish surname wasn’t something that led automatically to exclusion, so they could participate as well.  ....

White supremacy is foundational to our country, particularly our criminal justice system. Many of the laws that police used to enforce — from the Fugitive Slave Act to Jim Crow — were openly racist. So we have to recognize how law enforcement’s reluctance to properly respond to white supremacist violence because of its own affinity for white supremacy remains a problem.

My daughter is 1/2 Mexican. Her husband is a third cousin of infamous white supremist GOP person from ghosts past. My daughter didn't know anything about his family however. She does have a few issues with her in-laws because they're fundies. She and her husband don't go to church.

1/4 Mexican might be "Latino", but it's small enough that Fuentes would likely identify with white culture. My grandkids from my daughter look white.

My other two are married to Latinas, so their kids are 3/4 Mexican.

_____________

IMO: Nick Fuentes is white.
