Notoriety has a traditional drawback, namely, that young punks come gunning for you

Jesse James had a reputation for a while as a terrorist in Quantrill's Raiders and later as a wide-ranging bank-robbing gangster, until one of his own gangster pals shot him in the back of the head and made a limited career for himself as "the man who killed Jesse James" until Edward Capehart O'Kelley (perhaps wanting to become "the man who killed the man who killed Jesse James" ) blew him away withn a shotgun and a cheery "Hello, Bob." You will, no doubt, be amazed to hear that a certain Joe Burnett later shot and killed O'Kelley
