the real reason republicans are upset about kirk's death -- he was one of their key propagandists

they're not overly bothered by gun deaths; they consistently refuse to do anything but offer thoughts and prayers for innocent children dying routinely now in school shootings.

they're not overly bothered by violence against political figured; they've often called for it, threatened it, mused about it, or celebrated it, even in the case of paul pelosi, who isn't even himself a political figure, just married to one.

what bothers them is the damage to their propaganda network. they now have to figure out how to fix it, how to lure young voters down the path of bigotry, racism, sexism, and overall evil.

kirk was apparently quite effective at that. *that* is the loss they mourn.

This country is completely broken, there’s not a single patriotic member of MAGA, and very few in the Republican Party at this point.

Replaced. It's not that he had no skills, but his skills aren't that hard to find.

A lot of people willing to say awful things and lie for cash. Lots.

i claimed that there was so little logic and thought in republican "thinking" at that time that it would be far easier for a democrat to pretend to be a republican than for a republican to pretend to be a democrat. the latter requires facts, analysis, balancing of competing objectives and views, etc., while the former simply requires parroting back a few attack points and catch-phrases.

so she put me to the test.

she had dinner scheduled with a former boss, big-time republican in texas, and wanted to introduce her then-fiance, and thought it would be great if he thought she had found a good-old republican to marry.

correctly assuming we would never see him again, i said sure, and yeah, all i had to do was laugh at his biased jokes and throw in a few anti-kerry cracks, whatever the lies the media was pushing at the time, and dinner went great, he clearly felt right at home with a "like-minded" republican.

i defy any republican to convince me they're a democrat. i don't think they can fake it like that. it's simply too much work. life is complicated, and governing is hard. their side simply insist that their simple views are right, and they ignore reality because they can't handle the truth.

That's why they got into such a frenzy.

Only problem is the killer apparently isn't a lefty, so it will die down now.

that's why he spends a lot of his time on college campuses and reaching young white males through his podcast and social media. People like him are a growth driver for the GOP among an important demographic.
