8th circle is Fraud. The deepest subsection, Bolgia 10, is Falsifiers. The fourth and last class is Perjurers, or Falsifiers of Words. One example that Dante put there was the Achaean(Greek) spy who convinced the Trojans to take the horse into the city through lies. That absolutely applies to Kirk. Some of his last words were outright lies.

Or one might argue that he was a Traitor to Kindred or Traitor to Country, which are respectively Rounds 1 and 2 of Circle 9.
