State Rep. James Talarico to jump in Texas Senate race

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/05/talarico-texas-senate-campaign-00546945

Democratic state Rep. James Talarico is set to announce his Senate bid on Tuesday, according to three people familiar with the plans, granted anonymity to discuss them.

The state legislator has been considered a rising star in Texas, conducting dozens of national meia interviews after he and his fellow Democrats left the state to hold up a President Donald Trump-led plan aimed at netting more Republican-leaning seats. He also secured a spot on Joe Rogan’s enormously popular podcast this spring.

Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas) already announced a bid for the seat in July.

Democrats have long hoped to flip the Lone Star state, which has at times seemed tantalizingly within reach. But President Donald Trump won the state by more than 13 percentage points in 2024, a far wider margin than his other two single-digit victories in the state.

Especially the republicans.

White Suprematist John Cornyn
10 Commandments denier Ken Paxton. Some conservative group is already airing negative ads against Ken, even mentioning his wife wanting to divorce Ken on biblical grounds.

I suppose the field is open for the Democratic candidates. The 2 mentioned already will be hard to decide. I’m pretty confident Rep. Talarico would bring the Senate to its knees with shaming the pseudo christians in Congress.

He would have been great and he knows how to hit the points against Abbott.
He doesn't talk about federal issues.

I know a bunch of facebook people were trying to get him to run for senate...oh well...He'll go against Colin Allred and possibly Jasmine Crockett in the primary.

Some weird cowboy dude that nobody has ever heard of is running for governor.

Why do Texas dems do this?

They "overshoot" when they run....

I absolutely love the guy, but he's state politics and state office all the way.

He would’ve run circles around Abbott and his so called Christian beliefs.

I guess he’ll have to use that tactic against Cornyn or Paxton or whoever wins. James has to first win the primary.

Hopefully someone will step up to take on Abbott and his cruel policies.

of Christian Nationalists. James would expose it all.

Chris Tackett is great, but I can't picture him running for office. We need a voice.

I think they may be trying to recruit a particular someone, but I've never heard this particular person shoot daggers.
