"Sex Trafficking in Russia: An International Crisis Overlooked"

This is the headline to an article dated 07/17/25 from the site Virginia Politics.org with a byline from Leighanna Smith. It details the pervasive sex trafficking in Russia. In addition to just grabbing people the traffickers lure young girls and women from poor countries that are under Russian sway. They promise decent work and wages and then when the girls and women enter Russia the traffickers take their papers away from them and they are now unable to get free and go anywhere. So they are worked as slaves and also exploited for sex.

You can be sure Putin gets a cut of the action because the report notes the open corruption and involvement of officials in the government at all levels:

"Perhaps the worst aspect of this issue is that the Russian government actively enables traffickers to keep the business alive and thriving. Police are lawless in attitude, blind to the situation, and may get involved themselves. In addition, the surviving victims are deported, imprisoned, or re-trafficked rather than being provided what is rightfully theirs in protection and aid. As stated by the Harvard International Review, this is achieved through widespread corruption, where government officials turn a blind eye to forced labor since traffickers' networks are long established in the illegal economy, something that oligarchs and even state-owned companies directly benefit from. The Trafficking in Persons Report: Russia also confirms that government officials routinely bribe or openly protect traffickers from prosecution and thus enable such abuse to function with impunity."

The UN Office of The High Commissioner for Human Rights released a press release on 07/28/25 headlined "Russia must act to end long-standing trafficking for labour exploitation of migrant women: UN experts". That UN article notes an example of how it's done and what is done to the girls and women:

"According to information received, dozens of women were lured to Russia with false promises of legitimate employment in small shops. Once there, their documents were confiscated, and they were held in captivity, forced to work up to 20 hours a day in inhumane conditions without pay. Victims were reportedly subjected to torture, sexual violence and forced abortions, and their children were abducted."

So remember when we see Tulsi Gabbard, Crumb The 1st and other members of the GQP on TV that they have openly called and considered Putin to be admired and a friend. This is what they are snuggling up to and it is of little surprise in the case of Crumb The 1st that he admires someone who perpetuates the sexual trafficking and abuse of young girls and women.
