Robert Costa reports that "Several sources close to key GOP Senators tell me this morning that frustrations w/Sen. Kennedy are real, especially with unrest at the CDC, but that they are not at the point yet of pushing the WH or President to make a change."
As Ron Filipkowski commented, Their frustration is irrelevant. Who cares? They know RFK Jr. is dangerous, unfit, and is going to hurt a lot of people. But their fear of retribution from Trump is the deciding factor in all their inaction."
I am going to do something I almost never do, and that is urge DUers (even those with R reps) to call them about RFK today. Demand his resignation. I watched almost all of the hearing, and I saw cracks in the wall. Three R's were combative and critical in their questioning. They are at their weakest point now while the hearing is fresh in the minds of the American people. So please call and register your desire for them to SO SOMETHING to save lives.

(23,778 posts)It's important, although I understand the feeling that it won't matter, especially if the rep is an R. However, I saw something different in this morning's hearings. The R's are beginning to crack, and who knows what nudge will be the deciding one that finally makes them take action?

(9,101 posts)I live about 5 miles from the CDC. My next door neighbor works there. It's devastating what's going on there. So many good people whose only agenda is public health are seeing their careers destroyed at the hands of this deranged fruitloop. My reps are all Dems. I just hope they're listening.

(23,778 posts)I think RFK should have been confronted more about his role in igniting the distrust that spurred the recent shooting. But there was so much to cover. It is my belief that all Dems should be screaming for this fool's firing every time they're near a microphone. Maybe if they get more phone calls they'll step it up a little.

(41,377 posts)I understand what you're asking and why. I will contact 3, but I was out all day and didn't see it. Does anyone know where I can watch some of the hearings?
Also, s & s, if you have recommendations on who would be the best to contact, I'd appreciate hearing about them.
I'm sorry you've been met with such cynicism. I understand the cynicism, too, but it's worth a shot.

(23,778 posts)Don't know what's wrong with me (coffee wearing off I guess) can't come up with their names at this moment, and Tillis would be the best to contact. They both seemed very skeptical and I think with more encouragement may be moved to actually do something. Tillis is not up for re-election. Thanks! Okay, edited to add Bill Cassidy and Barrasso (?) who are the two doctors and Tillis would be the top three IMHO.

(215 posts)Good morning Senator
Did you watch the performance of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. today as he appeared before the Senate Finance Committee? Were you embarrassed? I was. To think that the fate of American healthcare is headed by such an incompetent man is astounding. RFK Jr.s attacks on public health and essential scientific research was outrageous. His dangerous proliferation of vaccine denialism is putting countless lives at risk through public distrust and acts of violence. Please work to have this person removed from his position. Impeachment works, but a bug in the presidents ear about the reputational harm Kennedy is causing would provide swifter resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

(4,281 posts)maybe they'll at least feel a bit of discomfort-- not shame, of course.
I can't imagine what it must be like to be a "small government conservative" and have to back Trump's takeover of Congress. Or what it would be like to be for "family values" and support Epstein's best friend. Or be for "free speech" and support Trump punishing colleges for having loud students, and law firms for representing clients he doesn't like.
Or being Marco Rubio, LOL.
I hope they feel a queasy sense that something is rotting inside of them, like RFK's brainworm.
