I was a child when he was killed, but I have read a lot about him and seen a lot of video clips. He was a passionate man, full of energy and life. He enthusiastically supported President Kennedy. He could also be abrasive and stubborn.
What I see in his son are some of the same characteristics, but inverted. He is passionate about things that are untrue. He is delusional. He seems to be so badly damaged that there is no hope in reasoning with him. It is a tragedy that he does not look to his father and his uncles.

(38,494 posts)It's a large clan and not all of the Kennedys have lived in the public eye. Yes they have wealth and privilege, and the Kennedy name has opened doors for some of them. But it seems to me that the Kennedys stand for liberal causes, and use their name and money to promote programs for the public good.
As a family the Kennedys are embarrassed and heartbroken over RFK Jr. To me it seems they don't know what to do about him, and it's way too late to disown him. If his father Bobby Kennedy Sr. had not been brutally murdered in 1968, he might have become President. But I believe his 2nd son RFK Jr. would have had an entirely different life.
