He is even crazier than i thought. Completely ignorant of everything. He is even denying knowing that covid killed people and if vaccines saved lives.
He has absolutely zero shame in stating this nonsense. I guess its a super power the magats have. I would be mortified if I was trashed like that in a panel review ( I am a scientist). Even the gop senators were tearing into him.

I can remember before the vaccine that a group of us, outside, at least 6 feet from each other and masked, were speaking with a neighbor who was working at the NIH remotely from VT. Someone asked how things could return to normal.
He said a vaccine which would get enough people resistant to Covid and treatments that were tested and worked. It was the hard work of scientists and doctors that did this and made life better.
You can quibble over whether some states were too cautious as the first vaccines made infection less, but still significant. It makes no sense to argue vaccines were not a game changer.
A comparison of death rates from Covid in the period after the vaccine became available shows a very strong correlation to the percent vaccinated.
lapfog_1
(31,235 posts)as well as Paxlovid.
The second time I came down with Covid... I had 2 vaccinations, the first being the almost useless J&J vaccine and one of the Pfizer mRNA vaccine. When I started feeling bad ( I am over 65, with type 2 diabetes and WPW ), I immediately tested and was positive. I paid a buttload of money right away for Paxlovid... and for the next 3 days felt like death warmed over. Magically on the 5th day, most of my symptoms abated and I felt "almost normal". I was monitoring my blood oxygen and on the 3rd day I think it was like 80... or even in the 70s... I should have gone to the hospital.
Anyway, I survived... and in another week I was back to work, doing just fine.
The first time I had Covid it was before vaccines or medication. I made it through but it lasted like 2 months... to the point where I couldn't catch my breath enough to talk ( and finish a sentence ).
RFKJR is a huge idiot and a danger to every American.

(15,832 posts)I remember listening to the 'Ring of Fire' show on the radio, hosted by RFK Jr., Mike Papantonio and Sam Seder years ago. Kennedy made sense back in those days; he was solidly progressive, always with a strong grasp on reality. Then he got involved with Trump and totally lost the plot. Seems to happen to everyone in Trump world.

(1,190 posts)I've seen more people than just Kennedy go completely off the rails. One of my cousins was a huge Bernie Sanders supporter who during covid went absolutely nuts with all the junk science. I don't even know if she voted for Trump, but she's a true nutcase regarding the lethality of vaccines and is convinced just about everything in healthcare is designed to kill us. She wants Fauci and Bill Gates put to death.

(18,176 posts)That show was on Air America and it was the first I had ever heard any of his work. He seemed kind of normal and I was concerned about the environment. So I listened. Then the anti-vax stuff started and I was done with him.

(15,832 posts)Pre-Trump he was just another anti-vaxxer crank with little to no power, coasting along making money off his Kennedy name, mostly ignored by the media and polite society. Now, as head of HHS with Trump's full backing, his statements and decisions affect the lives of millions of vulnerable Americans. Lord Acton was right: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

(6,871 posts)RFK Jr has absolutely zero knowledge about Science and Health but thinks he knows more than anyone else in the world. He has never cited a single TRUE piece of data. He lies about literally everything. He's been in the job for 8 months and cannot answer a single question accurately about anything related to the Department he leads other than the people he has fired. I would venture to guess that even most people who agree 100% with Kennedy's positions on everything would at least have some clue as to what was going on in their Department.

(6,871 posts)From What I can tell, Ladapo hasn't stated belief in those things either, though he has made public appearances with the "demon sperm" doctor. Ladapo has also never endorsed some of RFK Jr's wackiest ideas such as HIV does not cause AIDS, 5G networks are for mass surveillance, Chemicals in water cause gender dysphoria & Bill Gates aims to create "a new feudalism" to profit from vaccines and control the food supply. They do seem to share the same views on vaccines and fluoride in the water among other things. Like i said, they're probably equally bad and it's insane that both of them have authority to influence anybody's health but their own.

(15,832 posts)' 'Ladapos a charlatan: Florida surgeon generals tenure at UF is lackluster, colleagues say'
(Florida Alligator) "When Gov. Ron DeSantis hand-picked Joseph Ladapo as Floridas surgeon general in September 2021, the role came with a second high-profile appointment: a tenured faculty position at UF...But Ladapos colleagues still arent sure what he does to earn his salary at the university. Some say not much."
"UF fast-tracked Ladapo into a $337,000-a-year contract as part of his role as the states top medical official, charging him with launching an internal medicine research program, taking on a part-time teaching role and leading an administrative team."
"A rising star among conservatives opposing pandemic-era safety measures, Ladapo dazzled UFs top brass with his Ivy League credentials and multi-million dollar research portfolio. After reviewing his résumé, the medical schools dean said he looked 'fabulous.' "
"Now, more than three years into his tenure, internal records and interviews with more than a dozen professors and administrators raise questions about whether Ladapo is meeting UFs expectations."
"Ladapos work calendar shows monthslong stretches with little or no activity. Instead of attaining grants and conducting research, he spent his first year revising manuscripts and writing his memoir, 'Transcend Fear,' which details his skepticism of vaccines."
"He also promised to bring hundreds of thousands in research dollars from the University of California at Los Angeles, his previous employer. That never happened. He blamed his former boss, claiming she withheld the funds over disagreements about COVID-19 policies. A review of internal reports and public directories indicate Ladapo hasn't secured any research grants for UF."
"His classroom contributions are similarly sparse. Ladapo agreed to dedicate 20% of his time to teaching; so far, thats amounted to a handful of seminars and guest lectures. A proposed course on 'critical evaluation of scientific evidence' has yet to materialize."

RFK Jr. has stated that he became addicted to heroin when he was 15 years old, in 1969. That same year, he got David into drugs. David was only 13.
