As a survivor of child predators I would rather burn it all to the fucking ground then let these rich and privileged assholes go free.
RELEASE THE FILES

(36,878 posts)And I pray they do it quickly, and publish it - then let the chips fall where they may.
They want the files released.

(16,440 posts)They've voiced the idea that they will create their own list, and they need to do it quickly, and get the names out there. I'm sure the attorneys will try to do confirmations with dates, etc. (i.e., was Bill Clinton with Epstein on this date, etc.). But it needs to happen as quickly as possible.
I've used Clinton as an example ONLY here, and I am a great and long admirer of Big Dawg. I don't see him abusing minors. But IF his name is on their list, then so be it. I will accept their information at face value.

Dumb
A big mistake, almost as big as appointing Garland

(6,840 posts)Unlike Trump, Biden respected the independence of the DOJ from him. So it was never up to Biden to release them. I'm sure he ha no idea what is even contained in them. Ironically, if anyone is to be questioned or blamed about this it is the DOJ led by Merrick Garland.

(34,254 posts)Grand jury evidence is confidential, and he would have needed court permission to release it. He likely would not get that, as the case was ongoing.
And, regarding Bill Clinton, I have yet to hear any of the victims accuse him of anything. That being said, I HIGHLY doubt that Joe Biden would have "protected" anyone here, "high level Democrat" or not.

(10,287 posts)Everything else belongs to the public.
Blackout the names of the victims, because they were mostly minors at the time.
Release everything except the Grand Jury evidence.

(21 posts)I suppose his appointment was meant as a jab at the senate for stealing an Obama SCOTUS pick but holy moly did it ever backfire.

(381 posts)I am generally against the Death Penalty but would make an exception for Cho-mo's...............
(BTW: all the RED states are in high gear to rapidly end the lives of everyone on death rows in their states)
I would love to see hundreds of these Republican Politicians imprisoned in Colorado's SuperMax, each in a soundproof cell, with no contact with anyone, even other prisoners........They do not have email, texting or internet, no TV or Radio as I understand it. All meals shoved through their cell door, no view out their small cell window. the bed and stool are concrete, perfect place, better than hell, with NO chance of Pardon or Parole.
McVeigh got a plea bargain of confinement there instead of the Dealth Penalty, and after six months told the courts it was worse than the death penalty and they went ahead and executed him............It is like solitary confinement til you die.......and well deserved.......totally unfit for society.

Wasn't he named in the Epstein files, though?

(1,519 posts)As well you know, it's so hard to talk about it, especially in public. But, once that dam breaks, and you know there are many people who support you, you get every, dirty, detail off your chest, holding your hands together to stop them from shaking, but you can't stop. You can't walk away when people start listening to you.
From one survivor to another, to another, to another, we WILL get JUSTICE.

(11,077 posts)I have mentioned it a couple times but it seems important to say it again.
It was multiple times, couple years apart, by two completely different, unconnected people, one was male, the other female.
Especially as a man I spent most of my life silent and pretending it didn't happen. My parents essentially swept it under the rug to avoid controversy and attention such things brought back then.
While I'm not screaming it from the mountaintop, I'm going to speak my truth when it matters.
To be clear, I'm an old guy now and I'm fairly well adjusted and in a very positive and happy marriage for over 30 years.
That said it's always there though. It's always part of me. You don't actually "get over it". You just be the best you can be in spite of it.
It truly never leaves. I wish you peace all the same, and sending you and family sweet, sweet, hugs!

Ill confine my geometric musings to knot tying
I finally learned the shortcut for tying a bowline knot.
To think of all the contortions I went through (not the naughty kind) until I learned the shortcut,
NEAT!

(30,545 posts)goes about their day, that a not-nearly-small-enough percentage of those people that you interact with; are survivors of abuse and exploitation, and that means abusers live among us, too. They are people we know, or thought we knew, and like.
So many survivors feel alone but there are SO MANY. Its the power of stigma and shame. It only serves the powerful. I hope this shatters the stigma.

Many years ago I served on a federal grand jury for an entire year. Many of the cases were child abuse cases. There is no penalty for child abusers that would ever be enough for what those children went through. RELEASE THE FILES!!
