Just about all of Europe is coming to DC with Zelensky

"The offices of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von de Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said they would travel to Washington on Monday to meet with Trump. They will be joined by French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, according to Reuters."

https://www.nbcnews.com/world/ukraine/trump-putin-summit-ukraine-europe-peace-plan-war-rcna225438

They know how disastrous it could be to leave Zelensky alone with Trump, will serve as witnesses to whatever Trump says so he can't deny it later and will prevent Trump from trying to beat up Zelensky as he did at their last meeting. It is pretty obvious to me they know they are dealing with an unstable moron.

They will be in DC and there will be enormous pressure on Trump to at least hold a joint session with all the leaders in a room together.

I agree they can't all be equally at the negotiating table, but this meeting was never about negotiation. It was about showing a fait accompli down Zelenskii's throat, and that won't happen, at least not this week.

This show of force is for Putin more than Trump. It is the EU leaders telling Trump, "Hey buddy, step aside. you aren't making any deals that affect all of us. Go work on a bag of Big Macs. You are not needed here."

like the last time Zelenskyy was in the oval office.

This is a ballsy move by the Europeans. Trump called a meeting at the WH with Putin and Zelenskyy. Obviously the plan was to gang up on Z and pressure him to accept a terrible deal.

This move turns the tables on Trump and Putin. Z says, basically, "I'll come, but my posse is coming too. You want to talk? Fine, you will talk with ALL the affected parties."

I suppose Trump could deny the EU people access to the WH, but in that case, Z might just refuse to meet, and instead hold a high-powered news conference in DC that would make Trump look even smaller. I don't think Trump can risk that.

It is as if the EU leaders tricked Trump into taking his show to the WH. The EU leaders would have been much less effective is they were forced to sit on some fishing boat off the beach in Anchorage. In D.C., THEY can dominate the media coverage and make Trump and Putin look much smaller.

This is a show of force against Putin. Putin said twice that he warned against Ukraine and the European leaders from interfering with the "progress" Putin and Trump had made in settling the war.

The only thing that would make this perfect is if they all showed up wearing military attire. Force is the only thing that either Putin or Trump understand. They are saying "We are Ukraine" in an elegant manner.

Trump is stupid enough to think that they are flattering him by showing up to talk to him and take pictures. Shoulder to shoulder, they are showing Trump that they are not giving up Ukraine.

Hell, what would you do if the entire UN showed up on your doorstep to warn you of the consequences of selling out a key country? This will be fascinating! I hope they all get to show up and stick it to the Orange Pedo! You want attention, Donald? You got it!

I SO WISH that they would make an exception for Ukraine and announce Ukraine's membership in NATO. Listen, there are huge swaths of Russia whose people want to be free of Russia. It's not just 1991. It's NOW. Those people will probably fight in a heartbeat against Russia.

Russia needs to go home before they get so asskicked that they have to beg for food on the street corners. Forget the empire that you want back, Putin. Run for your life, you ICC criminal.

I would like also to hear what Ukraine's civilians think about the entire EU standing up for them. It will be good for them to see this.

I hope it happens.

I'm sure he thinks his "genius" has brought peace and is just waiting for his Nobel Peace Prize.

Yeah, this is a highly unusual all-hands-on-deck meeting that wouldn’t be happening if Alaska was productive.

5 European leaders, the head of NATO and the head of the EU don’t just drop everything and fly to DC.

1. Showing solidarity against Putin.

2. Strategy session. Ukraine is losing troops and they need them to get rallied and back into the fight. Plus war fatigue is setting in. And doing the same thing isn't going to work.

3. Trump may have indicated he's ready to just give up and walk away from this. So they need to convince him to continue fighting.

4. Putin may have implied a willingness to give up on some of his demands, but fall way short of what everyone wants. So if this is the first thaw in the ice wall, it can't be afforded to ignore it.

5. Lukashenko of Belarus has indicated he may not seek another term, nor is his son interested. They have talked about merging Russia and Belarus back together. That could really throw another wrench into the machine. So they may discuss on preparing for that eventuality as it gives Russia a newer and longer border with Ukraine.

Doubt we know everything for a long while.
